Last Friday I picked up my new to me truck. a 2004 1500 quad cab 4x4 with a 5.7 that has 150,000 miles. Some rust on the body, not horrible. Pretty much power everything.
I was in kind of a bind & needed a truck. I also wanted something newer as my old ride was 1990 Jeep Wrangler. I liked the old YJ but it had suffered a major engine failure and was time to upgrade to something made this century.
I drove it in to the dealer & it never moved under it's own power again. I had to give the YJ + $3700.00 to get into the truck. Only problem is that I had to buy it as is. They disclosed everything that was recently done by the PO, and everything that was in need of repair.
Within the last 6 months the PO put in new exhaust manifold gaskets, new headlights & taillights, new instrument cluster, new tires, and all the gears, bearings, seals in the rear axle replaced. Some other minor things were done as well that I can't think of off the top of my head,
What still needs to be done:

Front pads, rotors, calipers
Right side cateletic converter
Right rear leaf spring

The converter & leaf spring were included with the truck, just need to put them on.
So, did I get a decent deal or did I get taken?

a junker + 3700 dont sound too bad of a deal..just take care of the tranny, your motor should run a long time as most hemis are capable of

Nice looking truck. Great deal imo. Good luck with thr rest. It sounds like minor stuff. Remember to change your fluids if they didn't already. Some of these trucks still run factory lubes and they all need to be changed at certain intervals.

The entire bumper and headlight setup is different on the 06-09's. I would say you'd have better luck with something meant for your year.

And welcome!

Nice looking truck. Sounds like a great deal if you can handle the repairs.

Good to know. If I would have to go through alot of work to get it to fit, I'd be better off fabricating my own.

You might not have to. Depends on where the mounts for the brackets are. I believe they would be in the same spot. You could always message the guy and tell him that you want to see if it will fit first before you buy it. If it fits, go for it. If it doesn't, thank him for his time and keep looking. I've done both before.
