I am planning to finalise my new RAM 1500 V8 this week but need some suggestions on the below:

1.) Option 1: Black 1500 with Night Edition and 12 Inch screen but 4X2
2.) Option 2: Granite metallic 1500 V8, 8.4 inch screen but 4X4 and 20 inch chrome wheels.

Now i love the Option 1 but it is coming a tad bit more expensive and without 4WD.

Option 2 is standard lone star with larger wheels and smaller screen but with 4WD.

I am based in Texas and wont be doing much offroad driving....

What makes more sense from daily use and eventually if i need to sell...

Any advice will be appreciated.

I'd rather have a 4x than some large screen that i don't really care much about...but that's just me.
Agreed. If my truck would have come with the 12" I'd be ok with it but the 8.4" is just fine for me. I also moved to Nebraska in 2012 and brought my 2wd Silverado with me. It was impossible to sell a 2wd.. No one would buy it.

Having owned both screens I have to say I'd prefer the 8.4. The big screen looks cool but I don't like having to rely on a display screen to access settings like seat heat/cool and steering wheel heat. Having said that, screen size wouldn't really affect my decision.

As far as the two trucks you're asking about, I'd keep looking or place an order. Neither truck would fit my needs/wants. 4x4 is a must where I live, but I don't like chrome and would want a Night Edition. I'm assuming both are Big Horns, which also don't have some of the options available that I would want. If I was forced to decide between them I'd have to take the one with 4x4.

You made a good choice with the night edition. Hopefully it cam with the 3:92 gears and LSD.
I really like my night edition. Chrome is going out of style. :)

I’ve had both the 12inch screen and the 8.4, and I like the 8.4 better. I could not get a truck without 4x4, even if it’s not used often it’s still a must in my book. Plus resale value years later will be much better on the 4x4. Anyone i knew looking for a used vehicle said 4wd is a must.

Know it is already a done deal, but would have been a vote for 2wd. My first two Rams and most of my trucks have been 2wd and that is where snow is measured in feet to hundreds of inches. 1 time in all those years did I wish I had 4x4 and that was in my back yard. From personal observation over the years most of my friends and family with 4x4 never needed it, or really ever used it.

Good luck with your choice Swindler. As far as the 12” radio display, I too just wanted the 8.4” display, but I’ll say now, having had my 2022 with the 12”, I love it. It took me awhile to learn how to set it up and how to use it. My Longhorn also came with wireless CarPlay which I use everyday too. I used to have a dongle that provided wireless connectivity on my 2018.

Same here.

I live in snow country and have yet to need 4x4 over the span of six trucks. I've found installing snow tires on an extra set of wheels far less expensive than the cost of 4x4, and I've eliminated some maintenance requirements and potential reduced vehicle complexity and repair cost.

As far as resale goes, if you spend $4000 on the 4x4 option, at trade in it's only going to give you a prorated portion of that money back. It may feel better getting a value higher than a 2wd, but you never get the whole investment back.

The one feature of 4x4 is it will likely make more attractive to the next potential buyer, which means it may move quicker. Besides the margin the dealer makes on 4x4 initially, that's the biggest reason dealers are less anxious dealing with a used 2wd.

I have 2wd now, my last truck - a Silverado - was 4x4. I fish and hunt in some pretty out of the way places, and I can count on one hand the times I actually needed 4x4 during the 23 years I owned that truck. I used it a bunch of times, but didn't really need it.

Written perfectly. My last winter with 2wd, snow measured in the hundreds of inches. 4 good snow tires, weight properly placed in the back, never a problem.

2 wheel drive is cool until your rear wheels are stuck on ice, 4x4 is nice to have lingering around!
