Hi all. I have not use my 4x4 system in my 04 1500 Ram so far. Only put it in four hi and 4 low like 3 times to make sure it works. Now there is no light in the dash telling truck is in 4x4. Is that normal or is somthing missing?

It probably doesn't have Dana axles in it. Give me your VIN and I can run it for you.

My truck is the same way. I haven't looked into mine but I believe there is a connection issue somewhere.

I had it happen on mine just before the warranty run out, the dealer fixed it. If I can find out what they did I will let you know.

Sub'd to this. I have the same issue that started in my 2005, sometimes the light comes on and sometimes it doesn't. The system is engaging.

I never really paid much attention, but when you first turn the key does the bulb light up? I'm thinking it does a bulb test.

I never got a definate yes or no, but it seems like most say no. I know mine doesn't but mine also doesn't ever light up. I know my 4X4 is engaging because I get all 4 wheels spinning on a hoist.

I also have a Wrangler. My 4x4 light quit working on that. It was a sensor on the transfer case. Might want to look into that.

I have the same issue right now. one time the light will work and I can try it later in the day and it won't work ,I asked the parts man at my local dodge dealer over the weekend he says it might be the sensor on the transfer case.

Welcome *****.

I got confirmation yesterday the switch that ***** has pointed out is the switch to "activate" the 4X4 light. I think I'm going to order one and update when done. For what it's worth, My cost is about the same as the one on Ebay and I work at a dealer.

Ok. I replaced the sensor and it works like a champ. If you want to be cheap, you could remove the sensor and make sure the pressure ball is free moving.

I found the easiest way to unhook the wire connector was up and over it from the rear. To remove and install it was easiest going over the exhaust on the driver's side.

Hope this helps someone...

Isn't it nice seeing that light work?

Glad it worked out for you.
