So I have a dollars and cents question. I have always put Mid Grade Gasoline in my truck. Today while filling up I noticed the average price from 87 to 89 octane is roughly $.30-$.40 difference. On an average fill up is it a difference of $9+ a tank “I have a 32 Gallon Tank”.

If I put in 87 octane and add an octane booster every time it would raise my octane while still having money.

The Lucas stuff works great! I ran it at the track with 91 for a few years in my Jeep. I started using it for a similar reason. 104 octane at Bandimere was around $13 a gallon. The Lucas was $11 a bottle and treated like 20 gallons of pump. Plus the 91/Lucas combo slightly outperformed the 104. So no brainer. Only downside was the plugs turned orange. Didn't affect performance, just couldn't pull a plug and read the tune. However, I was tuned for the higher octane. If you've got stock tuning, just save the money and run 87. Won't hurt anything, and even 91 won't improve performance without tuning.

I don't think running octane booster would pan out. Most octane booster is $7-$15 a bottle and you have 32 gallon tank. To me that doesn't seem like it's worth the headache. Also you should be careful on what octane boost you use some have extra additives that could be harmful to the motor in long term use.

I take a couple cans of this(Torco F500010TE Unleaded Fuel Accelerator) when traveling. A lot of places in the country only have 91. Its the same formula for race fuel used by many. If you don't have a 93 tune or race tune, I'd pass.
