I had one ordered and due to Covid it never shipped and I’ve been delinquent ordering a different one. It doesn’t seem like it can hurt anything. What I don’t fully grasp is whether it can help anything either. Some people swear young have to be an idiot to not run one. I venture most people not on the forum haven’t even heard of it so I don’t worry about it too much.

Good amount of us, but even on the forum if it hit 50% of active members that run one I'd be really surprised.

I'm now thinking of getting one. I'm hearing some crackling at WOT. Think my intake is dirty. Haven't checked anything yet though.

Truth is I always wanted one and have been lazy for 3 yrs although I've done other mods.

I vote yes.

I have one. Clean it out twice a year. After seeing what comes out of it when I drain it I'm glad that crap isn't running through the intake.

I recommend them. I run them and happy I am every time I empty it.

We have the UPR catch cans listed on our site

I suppose only a few of you guys remember when all engines had a breather that let that extra air out through the valve cover. Later they extended it to a hose that went under the engine, near the frame. Then they routed it into the air cleaner, through a PCV valve.
Positive Crankcase Ventilation.
Those were the
good,
old,
days..............

The most recent older car I worked on was my SIL's 64 Ford Falcon with
a 260 V8, it had a chrome breather on the valve cover. Very stylish.
That is also where you poured oil into the engine.

In 1986, I had a tiny filter on my 1984 Mustang GT 5.0.

If you had reason to remove your intake manifold, then use a borescope to see inside it, what would make anyone cuss, is what the valves look like, with all that carbon build up & what happens when some of that carbon breaks off :(
you would realize all the gunk & carbon that builds up, it would make any shadetree mechanic tear up.

If & when you buy a Catch Can, you will realize that it is a
Air/Water/Oil separator, just like you see in Paint Shops, it will be mounted fairly close to the Air Compressor.
It removes all or at least most of the liquids from the air line.
Then close to the Paint Sprayer,, you will see a short hose connected to the supply hose, that is called a Whip,
connected to the Whip is another Air/ Water separator, it is much smaller, that insures that only Air & Paint shoots out of the gun.

One other thing, some catch Cans have a base that you unscrew to empty the liquid, while others have a petcock in the base, those you can slip a hose on the petcock & open the valve, so you can put a container on the ground to catch the liquid.

I put this on my 2009 Dodge Ram HEMI

I have one. I purchased it from Nick@GotExhaust, UPR one.
Gave good price and shipped it to Canada.

Only issue I have, unrelated it product. S&B CAI doesn't play nice. So my Catch Can is being held in place with zip ties.

I've had a BT setup for many years. No complaints. Drain it once a year when I change my oil.

I had one on my 2013 1500. Didn't really add any benefit, just another thing to service. Haven't ran one on any of my other 5.7's, never had an issue with any of them. Some might argue it keeps the intake cleaner, but at the end of the day it's such a miniscule amount of oil over 1000's of miles that it doesn't amount to much benefit.

I would run one on a forced induction setup since you are dealing with much higher levels of vacuum.

How are people emptying it once a year? I do mine every month or so and there's always enough in there to dump, in both the hemi and v6 cans.

I wish the v6 can had a drain like the hemi does, makes emptying it a 5 second ordeal to just open the valve with a pan underneath.

With the 5.7L intake 4x a year easy. Specially winter.
With the 6.4L intake 2x winter empty in the summer.

But I do very short commutes.

I added a Brass valve to the bottom.

I was thinking about doing that for the v6 can but I got hung up on that it would never fully drain, but I guess the one on the hemi has the nipple also so it doesn't drain all the way either.

Little tidbit for you guys running a catch can,the farther away from heat you can mount it,the more efficient it'll be at trapping and condensing the oil vapours coming out of the crankcase. I have my Moroso can mounted beside the rad where it gets a nice stream of cool air blowing across it.

How many miles do you drive per year? We don't even put 5k miles on our truck per year. The more you drive the more frequently you'll need to empty the catch can. Also the engine condition has a lot to do with it as well. The more miles you have on the engine (wear) the more blow-by it can have. Which will fill up the CC faster.
