I would like some input on the oil pressure and transmission temperature on my new 2022 Ram 1500 v6 Pentastar etorque.

My previous 2013 Ram v6 had oil pressures as follows': Cold was 45 psi at idle. Any increase in rpm and pressure would be 70-80 until engine warmed up. Then consistently jn the 40's unless rpm's went over 3500. Then pressures went to 70+, all what were considered normal.

My new truck: Cold pressure 30 psi. Increase rpm to 2000-2500, still 30 to 31. At about 3000, pressure will shoot up to about 65 psi. After engine warmed up, I get nearly same readings. Except idling at stoplight pressure reads 28-29. Again if accelerating above about 2800 to 3000 rpm, then it will jump to 65+. I had always understood that these v6's had 2 stage oil pump. High pressure on until truck is above a set temperature , then low stage opens unless rpm's exceed 3500. So, is my my new truck's oil pressures normal or do I have something faulty?

Also, transmission temps. I know this has been discussed similarly in other threads, but my old truck always ran right around 176 degrees, winter or summer. This new one runs 190 to 205. (Coolant temp about 195). Did Ram drop or change the transmission oil cooler? Or ??

I appreciate any input.

Relating to the trans temp, my thoughts are the new transmission is likely aiming to be in that 'sweet spot' where temperatures create the highest efficiency. Too high and it degrades the fluid, too low and it will be less efficient ultimately causing lower mpgs.

Brilliantnick, thanks. Does your Hemi run at those temps also?

Your 2013 ran exactly the same temps and pressures as my 2019 Classic V6.

Your new truck has the updated Pentastar which has cooled EGR, a higher compression ratio, and has variable valve lift, not just vvt like your old truck, not to mention etorque. I’d say there is enough differences in the motor that caused FCA to tweak pressures and running temps. Nothing sounds out of range or dangerous.

Yeah so far my transmission chills at about 185. In summertime it's pops up to 190 or so on the highway, it has been up to 205 when towing in summer when it was near 100 out I think.

Is anyone else shocked at how long it takes for the transmission to get up to temp? I have a 22min commute, and it's barely there by the time I get to work/home.

I did notice that change from my old truck also. The Coolant temp is up to 190 degrees much quicker but trans is slower.
