I don't suppose that anyone has measured the hole that needs to be cut into the headliner to do the console install ?

Just make a template utilizing both the bracket and O/H Console. Measure 3 times cut once / start off cutting a bit small and sneak up on the final dimensions.

Use a new sharp utility knife .

There is a thread on this , maybe someone will post a link up here .

Good luck Sir !

What gauge wire should I use for an extension ? Strip and wire nut or solder and shrink wrap?

Can I take the connector loose and pull the top part it out the side panel of the dash to give me more room to cut, splice and solder or is there not enough room for that?

I you remove the blank panel , lighting control panel and the vent then you pull the Green Connector from its fir tree mount it does give a lot of room to work with it .
Not positive if you can pull it all the way out but there's plenty of room to work with it .

All three items to remove above simply push out from behind .

See post # 36 here by cptwing , he said the factory wiring splices the consol lighting at the top of the A pillar where it meets the headliner .
This may actually be easier .

My green connector has more wires out the top than the one you showed. What would this indicate?

Not certin , but you do have the black in 16 and the yellow & Violet in 11 like mine .

16 should be ground and 11 should be hot with the dome light on , if so that's likely the dome lighting .

Do you have lighted visors or anything else in the O/H besides a dome Lt ?
Is your truck a Reg cab , QC or crew ?

Crew Cab. No lighted visors or anything in the headliner except the single dome light. Now I wonder if its prewired for the console?

Nope , there's nothing on socket 1 , 2 & 8 ... bummer .
There are differences year to year in these RAMS .

It is one of yours LOL. I found it while searching for some footwell light instructions. I hope you don't mind me re posting it. I thought with all the discussion about the green connector it would be nice to know what all the positions were meant for.

Does it matter which side of the connector I splice into?

It shouldn't matter which side you use, just make sure you get a good connection.

If I order the wiring kit 68064999AA, how exactly do I wire it up. Do I need all three white and all three orange wires?

Thanks

Getting ready to do the install once the weather gets better.

OK getting ready to install. Just so I know, if i wire to the green connector as indicated, the map lights will both come on with the dome light when the door opens and i can use the map lights while driving?

Thanks
