So I’m throwing both those codes. I’m new to diesels and come from a Toyota Tacoma. I did all the maintenance to my tacoma from suspension, belts, cv axles etc. it’s never ending w this 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L. I was trying to find the throttle valve cable in the engine but it seems to be under the truck right under the cup holder. It seems to be very dirty. (Look at pic) before i spend hundreds at a shop. I feel it just needs a good cleaning.

Anyone else have this issue. Please share and i I’ll get back to this when i attempt to fix this.

Update!

Just went to self car wash and used their pressure washer to clean this up. Removed all the gunk. Seems to shift better on the way home. I just reset the codes so we’ll see from here.

Update 6/1/18

Drove the truck to the gym today. Definitely shifts smoother and no check engine light coming back on! :dancingpoop:

You've got some exposed wires there, you may want to consider a new pigtail or your problem may return.

Well, back at it again. Same code P1750. It’s a constant with this truck. Sent to diesel probably about 3x for this code since I’ve owned the truck (years)

Maybe need to find a new diesel shop. They always do good work but i guess they didn’t see this issue. I have a plug that was damaged and loose and full of gunk.

Edit: this code is P1750

Here I am back again. Had my truck in the shop for 2 months (Nov/Dec 2022) now its april 2023. P1754 I’ve replaced everything I can think of. Spent over $7k on this issue past 5 years. At this point, just want to sell the truck.

Those are Trans throttle valve codes. It sounds like you've already shot the parts cannon at it, hopefully a new actuator and then maybe a new wiring harness in that 7 G's?

Here is a list on the top of my head.

Actuator

Master Overhaul Kit
Convertor Billet Kit
GM solenoid kit
Throttle Sensor Pigtail

At this point, I can only think of something electrical. When the truck runs great but as soon as the code comes on, its a whole different story. Has that hard shift from 2nd to 3rd and high rpm when shifting.

  • P1749 Pressure Control Solenoid Failed Low
Code P1749 Description With the engine running in gear at cruise speed and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detects that the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) circuit failed low.

Read more: https://www.autocodes.com/p1749.html

  • P1754 Coast Clutch Solenoid Circuit Malfunction
The Input Clutch Solenoid Valve is controlled by the Transmission Control Module (TCM) in response to signals sent from the Park & Neutral Position (PNP) Switch, Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), and Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor (Throttle Position Sensor). Gears will then be shifted to the optimum position. This is not only caused by electrical malfunction (circuits open or shorted) but also by mechanical malfunction such as control valve sticking, improper solenoid valve operation. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will set when the Input Clutch Solenoid Valve does not respond from the TCM signal.

So I cleaned this pigtail with electrical cleaner because there seems to be oil from my blow by tube. I added an extension so hopefully it doesn’t go on the plug again. Truck ran great coming to work this morning and ran fine going home.
