Looking for recommendations on a quality aftermarket touch screen head unit that is plug and play. Currently been using a garmin with Alexa and I’m looking for something more seamless and that I can install myself. 2011 Ram 1500 with full center console with the stock radio.

Take a look at infotainment. com
I have not purchased from them, but they offer many solutions for your 2011.

OK I bought a pioneer unit in 2020 for my '15 1500 Tradesman. I Like it overall except:
I could pair it with my 2017 Samsung SM-J6 but I cannot pair it with my new SM-22.
I tried to find out if there is a Pioneer update capability. There seems not to be one. You might want to check to see if whatever unit you get can get software updates in case you run into a problem like mine. Or go onto a forum discussing these units, this is really not a Ram specific issue.

@groovimus Not saying your wrong or that it isn't at all possible, weirder things happen but I find it highly unlikely any pioneer 2020 model headunit won't pair with a newer samsung phone but will with an older one. My guess is you're missing something somewhere.

As an aside, pioneer does have firmware updates on their website for various models. What model do you have? Feel free to PM if you want so we don't muck up the OPs original thread and I'll see if I can help you get things squared away.

@jaked1500 Any aftermarket headunit will be "plug -n- play" with the right harness from scosche or whomever but in order to retain vehicle functions through the headunit you'll need a pac-pro, maestro, or equivalent. Between it and the vehicle specific harnesses you'll be as P & P as it gets. As mentioned above, Crutchfield, even if you don't buy from them has their vehicle wizard that will show the harnesses, etc you should be looking for for your specific model vehicle.

Personally, as cool as the tesla style radios are the android OS is too funky for my tastes - too many quirks - Id stick with Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer, Alpine, etc.. you know the big names in car audio. Just my opinions.

I went with a radio from carnaviplayer. Fully plug and play with no kits, touchscreen, and wireless CarPlay.

Went with a new Kenwood head unit in my 19' and what a huge improvement. Never just a plug and play as there are some other gidgets required for our special proprietary vehicles...lol, but in essence it's pretty straight forward.

I have all the same functions as my old UConnect touch screen, plus a bunch more, too!

Definitely worth the upgrade!
