It does, but it looks like he's close enough to spec that he doesn't need it. I am wrong occasionally or always if you ask the girlfriend. She can think that if it makes her feel better about being wrong. Lol.

You're pretty close to ideal spec so I wouldn't mess with it. The polyfill can effect voice coil cooling.

Yea I got as close as I could. I guess the chuffing I will have to deal with. It really isnt that bad its just loud when I turn it way up but at that ime my windows are down so eh.

Im open to suggestions for fixes... aka High pass filters, subsonic filters or poly.

I mean cant it hurt to spend 10 bucks on poly and just lay it on the sides of the box? Im not trying to damage anything but If I can cut the chuffing some Ill do it.

Tricking it to think the sub is in a bigger box would make it hit even harder though which means even more air?

But like I said before if it just have to deal with it. I can

If the subs are new give them time to break in. If they don't sound good after that maybe try the fill.

Yea I figured thats the issue, but I dont want to lose the passenger side fold out floor so I have to deal ( I dont even hear it when I roll the windows down).

I was told by Crutchfield that some liner polyfill could help making the interior of the box smaller but who knows. Besides the port size the sub amount of air required in the box for the sub is damn close to the box size. Optimal size of a ported box for that sub is 1.04 and this box is .95.
According to Alpine's manual, that subs preferred internal volume in a vented application is 1.22cu/ft. Sealed is .5-.85cu/ft. You could plug the port to see how you like it...would be super easy and your FR would be cleaned up a bunch...less peaky, more smooth. Also, when I had my vented fox box for two 12's, I remember finding out that the internal volume was calculated with the vent volume included into the final numbers...not really how it should be done...might be worth the time to find out if your fox box's internal volume is with/ or without the vents volume included.

Polyfill lowers the FS of the sub.

I personally would never do a ported sub with that amount of airspace and/or enclosure size. You also have to take driver displacement into consideration which lowers the available cf even more. Sealed is a much better way to go and would sound much better with that amount of airspace. Sealed also lends well to the cabin gain of a typical vehicle which provides for a natural roll off.

I'm looking to upgrade the stock 6 speaker system in my '18, what are the best options to plug and play and keep the stock NAV and everything? I'm a little worried about rattling with upgrading though.

I wouldn't put loose poly in a vented box...it'll look like a snow storm in your truck with poly blowing out of the vent. You could CCF the inner walls of the enclosure for a 'similar' result....and it would tame back waves from the sub

I love the vented sound. I cant go back to non ported. I gotta be honest once the volume is cranked you dont hear the port noise.

Overall I'm happy but I'm just aiming for perfection with what I have which may not be viable.

Slowly getting there. Trying not to raise my rear seat but it’s looking like I’m going to have to to get the box volume I need. Should be a final volume of .41cuft after sun displacement. View attachment 135761 F1B1042C-A4E5-4197-B7B8-E89D75DE53DC.jpeg Also built some tweeter pods for my PPI 3-Ways. Not sure if I like them as they stick out a little further that expected, so I might ditch the 1.5” pvc 45 and use a coupling cut at an angle to get the same angle but will fit a little closer to the sail panel. Vinyl wrapped and stitched myself.

Are those ribbon tweeters? Have seen them but have never heard a set.

Yes and they are awesome. It's a bit of a change from a soft dome tweeter, but with a little eq, the quality and detail is impressive. I had them flushed mounted in my 14 and had them flush mounted in my 17 as well, just trying something new to see how it goes.

Was able to get some more done on this. Added a second layer of MDF to get the volume I needed. Finished the top and the rings to flush mount the subs. Letting those dry so I can cut the rear off and added the back caps to finish up the wood portion. Next will be vinyl...E129987E-A636-474A-9AAA-D52AB89C7244.jpegBF489443-DC83-48AD-9B33-FC28DC2426C9.jpeg

Dayton HO 10s. I ordered one while doing the mockup of everything and, of course, they are out of stock until mid September. So I'm in no hurry to finish this up this week.
