Ok, I'm new to this forum and have a problem with my ram.
It's a 1995 ext cab short bed 2wd 1500 w/5.2 Magnum.
This truck has been sitting for a few years and I finally found time to mess with it this year and got it going, but I have been having one main issue. For the last ~6 months, when trying to start the truck, I have to let it sit for a little bit before being able to start it. It will turn over, but will NOT start up until you wait for a while then you can hear the ASD relay click a bunch under the hood in the relay box and the Check Engine flicker and eventually come on solid. When it does this, you can then hear the fuel pump prime and then you can start the truck normally and won't have any problems driving after until shutting the truck off again. The longer it's off, the longer it takes before the ASD relay kicks on. Today it took ~25 minutes of leaving the ignition in the ON position before it would start... (yes; I'm patient)
I've tested the ASD relay and it is good. Even switched it out for another one my FIL had and it still did the same thing. From what I've gathered/researched, I think I have a ECU that's going out. But since it's a OBD-1 vehicle, I can check any codes. Has anyone else had this issue or have any insight? I don't mind going and pulling a ECU from a local yard but don't want to without knowing what the issue is for sure. Apparently the 1994-95 computers are the same.
Any help is GREATLY appriciated!
