I read the 5th gen crew cab is 4" longer than the 4th gen. Is the quad also roomier?

Not sure but the 5th gen quad actually looks smaller than the 4th gen quad.

Quad is same size as the 4th gen. Crew is 4" longer.

I want a quad, both for the longer bed and the overall look is more balanced. Problem is the dealers seem to have 8 crews to 1 quad. Few choices.

How long do you want the bed? I have a crew and a 6'4 bed and it looks pretty good. Actually due to the size of the cab the bed looks short to me.

Often as not I have to order the truck to get what I want. I pay more in the sense that I would not be getting the steep discounts on a 2018 truck that are available at this date, but I get what I want.
I go with the quad cab and standard bed as it provides a shorter length vehicle with a shorter wheelbase and this makes it much easier to maneuver in parking lots or on back roads. 6.5 feet is the shortest box I want in a full size truck, otherwise might as well go for a Tacoma.

I bought a crew cab almost solely because my dog's travel crate fits perfectly in the back with the seats folded up. Being able to fit full grown adults in the backseat comfortably played out as a nice bonus.
