question on custom tune?

I have a 2018 ram 3500 with 6.4 hemi and question is if i get a programmer and a custom tune is there a way that by manual mode on the shifting that it can be lock into a gear that i select. say that i put it in 5th gear that it will stay in beside shifting to a lower or higher gear?

If you put in 5th it won’t shift to 6 but will shift lower. Been like this for long time on automatic transmissions . Or maybe I did not understand your question.

yeah i know that but im asking if you put it in 5th it wont shift lower it would just stay in that gear till you manually shifted it

Highly doubt it can be pulled off without considerable compromises, if at all. 18 was the start of the 8spd in gas HD's, right?

no that was 2019 i was just wondering if it could be done. to me it would be kind of nice to have it more like a manual so it would be shifting all the time

I've owned and driven RFE vehicles, I know they leave something to be desired and having control is nice. I've also been in the tunes for RFE trans' and I just don't believe there's anything out there to accomplish what you want, unfortunately.
