I'm trying to replace my front rotors and I can't get the damn things off. I have the two caliper bolts removed and the four caliper mounting bracket bolts removed. There is some play in the rotor but not much. Do I need to remove the axle nut as well? My truck is in pieces now so any help is greatly appreciated

In case you didn't get this done like said above you need a big hammer. The wheel and caliper are the only things that hold the rotor on.

He's using an air wrench, but it will come off just as easy with a plain old socket. Best trick ever. Has saved me a lot of frustration!

the rotor should slip right over the hub and lugs bolts. you need a hammer. removing that nut allows you to remove the hub assembly but not needed for just the rotors. on my 1500 I had to use a 10lb sledge to pop them loose.

Just beat them off. Have to do that on almost every vehicle up here in the rust belt. Sure beats the setup on my 96 though. On it i have to pull the hub to change the rotor.....Be thankfull that you do not.

I don't see why the axel nut was even removed here. No need at all for it

I know it is pretty entertaining that he removes it, and then... just has to tighten it up again at the end? I figured the rest was reasonably useful.

BFH to beat em off and then liberal antiseize on the backside mating surfaces when you reinstall. Did that first time on my 01 2500 and never have to fight em after that.

Oh make sure the little spring steel retainers are all off the studs too. Looks like they are but cant see the a couple of them.
