Just test drove a 2018 Big Horn Crew Cab (for other reasons...). Nice truck, just like my 2017 :) except for the new radio.

The new radio looks and works really nice....does anyone know if its a direct swap into my 2017?

Has anyone done this yet?

Thanks.

No, it's different enough that it's not just plug n play. There is a company that is working on a "kit" so that you will be able to swap it in place of your current radio.

Great, thanks!

Ill keep an eye out for the kit. Not worth taking a $$$ hit to "upgrade" to the 2018.

Love my 2018 8.4 Nav. I have yet to use apple car play tho. My brother says he hates it in his 2017 GMC Denali.

Yeah I like the better res on the screen, etc.

Not worth 2K IMHO, though. Hell the dealer was going to give me enough for my '17 that I would "only" lose $3K on it.

Just upgraded my '15 express to a UAQ. Had an RA2, so it was an easy enough decision as compared to upgrading to a VP4...not a whole lot more $ for the benefits. I went the easy rout and used the infotainment.com kit. The only thing I wouldn't consider quite plug and play is the media hub, it really doesn't fit the existing opening well, and interfered with the metal bracing in the center console. I enlarged the opening and made a quick adapter plate to lower the hub ~.25". Obviously, no comparison to the old RA2. 1cb180f8227d9bca2585d18a40d06f5b.jpg
