Replace Axle?

So today I went to replace the passenger front u joint because it was beyond at this point. After pulling the axle I notice the end of the axle looks like the photos below
Didn't have time to open the front diff yet but I know there's gonna be some small chunks in there. I'm guessing due to the fact the end has some damage I need to replace. What do u guys think?

It doesnt look terrible. I mean it wouldnt hurt anything to replace it just to be safe but if you absolutely had no other option I think youd be okay.

And that is an axle shaft not an axle. Im sure thats what you meant lol

I'm just concerned the rest of that top piece will come off And cause some scoring etc of the diff.

Hey! Do not replace the axle!! It is just a plastic bushing that got chipped! The axle is fine and u should get the plastic chunks out but they will most likely be in the CAD housing not the Carrier housing. It is a $4 bushing instead of a $130 axle! That bushing should come out of the end of that axle.

This is the parts break down. Number 22 is what u need it slips into that outer axle shaft and then slips OVer the inner axle shaft (number 20). And there is the actual bushing.
