I also have the dsr1 in my truck with the harness. It's the alpine system and the harness took all the signal that went to the factory amplifier eliminating it from the system, summing all the signals and sending them to my new amplifiers. I really wish it was an 8.1 channel instead of an 8.

what do you wish was 8.1 channel? the DSR? I'm running 10 channels out of my DSR

How? It's only an 8 channel dsp. I'm using 4 channels for the front (wish I had 6 for 3 way active) 2 channels for the rear speakers and the last 2 to the subs.

Man im having this debate in my head right now. 300 bucks is a steal for this setup with harness except ive already ordered my PAC Ch41 R.2. But that is gonna require me to spend more money on a dsp. Im really thinking of sending it back but debating if the dsr1 is a good enough dsp compared to a dm-810 other than just the additional channels. But 300 vs about 750 is a big difference

you can run RCA splitters to as many channels as you want(mind you those speakers will have to be run at the same frequencies), i talk to the tech about it. They were very helpful in the setup and even stayed on the phone until i got it fully setup

how many amps you going to run? i guess if your running some 5 amp competition setup then the DSR1 probably isnt for you, but i can see running 3 amps bridged off the DSR. that would be my setup but i opted for the 2 JL XD700 5 channel amps instead of 2 amps for fronts and rears and a separate sub amp

For that the dsr1 is perfect. I'm running a jl 8008 for my front and rear with 4 channels bridged for my midbass in the front doors, 2 channels for the tweeters and 2 for the rear speakers and a 6001 for the subs and it works well. Really though I want to add 4" mids in the dash, move the tweeters to the sail panels and run the 8008 for just the front and add a 2 channel for the rears, but the price jump to get more dsp channels is huge.

yes , this setup will work just fine. just take your time, label your rca cables(gets to be a rats nest back there). I tucked the DSR in behind the stereo. i didnt want to take the front seats out to run the rcas by the console to the back so ran them along the sills and back.

@BWL ive noticed youve been posting about the dsr1 for sometime. Have you noticed significant improvements on the latest software compared to alot of the older problems people had? Weak output voltage? Bluetooth problems? not saving settings and similiar? thanks

and ive also been doing some looking about how i wanna run wires.. I like to run power and signal of different sides so probably power driver side and signal passenger. just depends on where the amps end up and rca length, going down the middle is certainly ideal. If i get the DSR1 thats 4 sets of rcas..(ouch) Im debating wether to try to mount something under the seats but the way i see it.. power dist. wise if i mount some of it on the back wall i might as well do it all just to keep everything close and reduce wire runs.

I honestly haven't had any problems and only updated it the one time when it was first installed. Mine is under the dash taped to the factory amp so I didn't need any cable extensions. Rcas don't really vary in price that much short vs longer so I just ran 4 sets to the back down the centre. I have dynapad on my floor that I just notched for the rcas so you can't see or feel them there. Then they go around at the passenger side where the speaker wires run and power down the drivers side.forget about under the seat mounting. Back wall is where its at. I have dynamat on the back wall and then a composite board bonded to it that I screwed the amp to.

20191229_161108.jpg some pics to show the install, but my back wall is covered around the amps so there's no visible wiring, but I do have enough room to get an allen key on the covers for my amplifier controls and set them without removing the seat.20191229_160902.jpg

20200819_152148.jpg @Cbuts05 this is my factory amp. You can see both plugs are removed. They plug into a maestro harness specific for your truck that does not come with the dsr1. That's what you use to connect. The factory amp is right beside the e-brake pedal
