I am heading to Bend OR in December and have been advised to get some snow chains. I have a 2020 5.7 4x4 1500 Limited with 60" tires.
One of the threads I saw mentioned S class chains are to be used and only on the rear.
Any ideas of a type and where I can purchase a set? I looked at etrailer and those advertised were not S class rated.
I don't mind paying extra for quality ones that are easy to install.
Thanks.

Wonder if he meant a 60 series profile, ie: 275/60/20. If he actually did mean 60" tires,he's probably looking at a custom set of tire chains, and he'll need his big wallet to pay for them, lol

If youre a bit of a redneck you can use almost any chain just need to heat and push in your wheel liner a bit. I have a set of cut down big rig chains with the stand offs for extra traction.I built these a couple years ago and have never had an issue. Just use good tire chain bunjees to keep tension to the outside and make sure your tag ends are either taped or wired so they don't come loose and flop around. That said I live in the Yukon and have never yet had to use chains on the highway to get anywhere, just good tires and 4x4.

Do you have 4wd? I lived in Bend and the surrounding areas for almost 20 years and never used chains (even with my 2wd work van).
yes, its a 4x4. I live in Orange County CA and the truck has yet to engage 4x4!!

Tire chains are a requirement in some areas.

But yes, a good set of winter tires work wonders.
Again, I lived there for nearly 20 years. Up in the mountains around, lots of snow. Bend can get a decent amount of snow, but most roads are cleared quickly, and the snow will not usually be on the ground for more than a few days.

Check the state laws, here in WY & CO if you have the mountain snowflake, they can be used without/instead of chains. Whether it's just as good, that's a different story.

I spent some time in Portland Oregon in the dead of winter.
We needed to go to the Hospital there, it was on a hill & they didn't allow the driving Public close to that hill

Not far inland from the Pacific Ocean, maybe 60 miles, we sometimes get a bit of snow.
They close a road leading to an area that reaches maybe 6,000 feet.
You either have to have chains on your vehicle, or have a 4 X 4, with a set of chains inside the vehicle.
Or they don't let you pass the check point.
The Check Point is at about 3,000 feet
