Hey guys, a couple of weeks ago I noticed some hesitation in throttle responce from any speed accompanied with bad gas mileage. It feels like the emergency brake is on while accelerating. There are no warning or check engine lights on, and no codes coming up. It seams to be getting worse and don't want to dump a ton of money replacing things that are otherwise ok. It also starting ticking slightly more than usual. I have tried higher octane fuel, changed the tune on the Diablo to 91 octane and the oil has 2k miles on it. Any help out there?

I bought the truck 6 months ago, I have not changed them. I know that would be a good idea. The truck has 77k.

Service interval for plugs is 30,000 miles unless the truck has a late 2013-model-year birthday. Late '13 build trucks use an iridium plug and have a 100,000 mile interval. Easiest way to tell is pull one of the plugs or run the VIN at a dealership.

Thanks, I'll look into that. It's a mid year truck I know for sure. Wouldn't that show up on a diagnostic test though? And or be causing misfire?

Check and clean your throttle body. Some of the stumbling can be caused by a dirty, sticky TB.

Replace your EGR valve - This usually throws a code when it has totally failed but it can cause problems when it's halfway to failure.

Plugs don't have to totally fail and misfire to cause driveability issues.

Change out your PCV valve as well.

How bad is the ticking noise? Is it getting worse? Can you tell if the ticking is coming from the exhaust manifold or the valve cover area?

I do not know if any of the 13's had lifter issues but my 2010 certainly did/does...

I can't find an EGR valve for 4th Gen Ram Hemi. Are they equipped with one?

Sounds more prevalent underneath, it's hard to pinpoint.

Check the e brake, wouldn't cause ticking though. Checking plugs is a good idea, but I am thinking a lifter and possibly can issue.

For the tick check to see if your exhaust manifold bolts broke by checking the heat shields on the manifolds if they move and can shake you have broken bolts.

Op stated he has lost power, mpg’s, and the ticking is getting worse. I would be pointed in the direction of lifters/cam issues. Pop off a valve cove an have a peak. Jmho.

It appears as though some of the early hemi's had them. According to the mopar parts catalog your '13 doesn't use one, it doesn't look like anything newer than 2010 uses them anymore. That's why you're having trouble finding one.

It seems as though my heat shields are loose. Would the broken manifold bolts cause issues with acceleration?

I notice most of the sluggishness between 1k and 3k, I have to floor it to get any kind of acceleration.

No....Just an annoying tick at startup that should calm down once the engine warms.

It doesn't calm down at all once it reaches operating temp.
