Dec 2nd 2017 at 0635 I was pulling out of the drive way taking my son to work. I was distracted, thinking about a case I am working on. Next, I am saying to myself, am I really running over the basketball hoop.

Didn't hit it to hard, there shouldn't be any damage to my Ram. Stopped and took a look, oh was I wrong. Goes into the shop on the 14th. They are replacing the front drivers side quarter panel, bumper cover and then will blend the paint into the hood and driver side front door. As a bonus, they are replacing the chrome ram 1500 emblems with black ones on both doors at no extra charge.

I haven't been at fault in an accident in 20 years!! Lets all say it together. Head up ass. Oh, the truck only has 2900 miles on it. Only $1600 dollars worth of damage. :emotions122:

Uhg, Rob

Strange you should post this... my son's basketball net blew over in the wind last night and JUST missed our new truck.

Get home tonight and the wife asks if I saw the hood of my car...

GRRR missed truck, hit car. I'm declaring open season on these stupid nets, there may be a couple of new 5.56mm holes in this one soon...

Put in a lot and the wind will pass right through keeping it upright lol. Sucks about the damage though.

I'd vote for a do over too!

I hope the repairs go well. Good luck.

Personally, I would not allow them to blend the hood and the door. A 2017 should not have any fading of the original paint.

That sucks! Are you making an insurance claim? The only reason I'm throwing that out there, is my truck had something similar when it was fairly new from a prior owner. A similar cost repair, but it ultimately ended up on a Carfax report which I think helped me score a good deal on it. I have no doubt the dealer lo-balled the heck out of him because of it.

Sorry it happened to that beautiful ram. Last year after buying my son his first car and making a long speech about driving safety, I managed to hit a metal post with his car in an empty parking lot. Him and the wife still give me grief! It happens!

weren't your bumper sensors warning you?
It as on the side of the drive way. I just turned the wheel to soon. The alley is narrow, so I requires you to turn a bit early to not hit the wall across the alley. The parking sensors did not get involved until I had already hit the hoop.

Blending will only occur if needed. Concho Collision is a great company and they have done work for my extended family on several occasions over the years and their work is flawless. I trust their judgement. Let's be honest the paint from the Warren plant is not perfect. I am willing to bet I will love the outcome. Also the replacement parts will all be OEM. We shall see, goes in next Thursday to begin repairs.

Yep, I made a claim. Not to concerned about carfax as it was purely cosmetic. I will just cross that bridge when the time comes. I keep my vehicles an average of eight years, so I am not overly concerned.

that sucks.

I was backing out of our garage with my wife's Acadia a couple years ago. I turned the wheels to position myself in the driveway, and proceeded to back right into her Aunt's BMW. the sensors never gave me a warning until I was trading paint. She had other damage from parking adventures (they live in a city close to Chicago and parking is REALLY TIGHT) so in the end, she just paid for the repair herself. she did find a better deal after I crushed her bumper, so it worked out.
