did you spill any on the block or axle/frame when you dropped the old filter? Could have just pooled the run when you moved it? How much was on ur driveway? Old or new looking oil?

Had the exact same scenario happen to me a while back. Changed my oil and next day was a leak in around the same spot. Shop told me it was in a spot they were gonna have to drop the transmission to get to it. Since the leak wasn't bad i just left it for now being they told me it was gonna be like 800+ dollars to fix it. I know that isn't really helpful to you but good luck.

Looks like a rear main seal to me. Was there any sign of oil where you park the truck before now?

The only time I have experienced a leak after doing a oil change was many years ago on a Toyota pickup. The truck was new and I changed from the dino oil to a popular synthetic. I used engine flush and followed the recommended steps. After the oil change the engine developed leaks. Did you change your oil type?

Did you do the oil change or did you have it done? Did you wipe it all down when finishing up?

I changed the oil myself. Was careful not to spill any while doing it and wiped everything down after. After I looked again I'm thinking it's the rear main seal as well... what should my next step be??

Take off the dust cover between the motor and trans and take a look inside. Maybe it's just the oil pan gasket but if it's leaking from up above then it's the rear main seal. To replace it I imagine it's pretty much the same as the 5.7L. Need to unbolt the flex plate from the torque converter (4 bolts). You can turn the crankshaft by hand to get access to them one or two at a time. Then drop the transmission. Once that is out of the way you can unbolt the flex plate from the crankshaft to get access to the seal. It's a big job and would be much easier with a transmission jack so there is no shame in taking it to the shop to have it done.

You can also spray the area down with brake cleaner to really get everything clean and see if the leak shows itself. When you did the oil change was there any evidence of a leak at that time?

I think I have the same problem as Ray1500G. I went to change my oil yesterday and noticed my 2011 1500 had an oil leak that looked just like Ray's. The only difference is that mine was leaking prior to an oil change. Would that maybe change what the problem is or do y'all still think it would be a rear main seal?
