Any auto paint store can mix you up some and can it (expensive).. I used duplicolor from pep boys (inexpensive).. They have most paint codes on the lid.. Worked fine for me but my truck is white.. Maybe try it on a test panel first.

Im using it right now, just don't use their clear coat with white. Has a slight yellow tint to it.

To the grill swappers... Its a pita to take out the inserts. Take your time and be carefull with the tabs... It would be a nightmare to take off the scoops, so we left those on. It will be necessary though to unclip one or two of the scoop clips to access 3 of the insert clips... Recommend a very tiny screwdriver to be on hand.

IMO

What do you mean by scoops? I've had my grill off but haven't looked at it too close

Now all that's left is to remove the old and install the new. Will probably be a project for next weekend

Well, the wife gave me the OK to work on it tomorrow, so as long as I take my half day off tomorrow, I'll get her done.

you need the wifes permission to work on your truck? please leave your mancard at the door....:roflsquared:

The reason why I do all the crap I do to the truck is because my wife is happy haha. Happy wife = I do whatever I want to do, just as long as she doesn't have anything planned for us to do. Works for me lol

oh NO, no , no, no.

Been married longer than you have been alive,
Do not fall for that "Happy Wife, Happy Life" myth.

I told mine, just today, "You gave your Oath, before God, to Love, Honor & Obey!
Now, Obey or plan on an eternity in Hell, you Papist!"

Then, I ran out the back door, in my stocking feet, with no coat, into a windy 27degrees.

Best thing about Christians, they got to forgive.
Just make sure you do not come back until they do.

Got it completely done.

Ill do my best to describe everything in detail.

First of all, there are a FEW parts that I bought that I wound up NOT using. There were quite a few bolts and retainers that i sourced right off of the old bumper and used for the new.

Also, the air dam on the sport bumper is clipped in, and is SUPPOSED to be held in with retainers. I bought retainers, and realized once I went to install them, that I had bought the wrong size. I improvised with Zip Ties. It held in there fine, and to be honest, even before I Zip tied it, it really wasnt going anywere anyway.

Here it goes:

Before:

Remove the upper radiator cover, grille, and headlights. Not going through the steps on that, as it is pretty straightforward, but im sure there are how to's on the site.

In each fenderwell, there are two 8MM bolts. Remove, and save for later.

12746505_10205874933849230_139104710_n_zps2vld8kno.jpg

Not pictured - There is a 10MM bolt that holds the bumper to the fender. Remove on both sides, and set aside for re-assembly

From there, you can gently pop the upper painted part of the bumper off. It takes a little convincing, and there are a decent amount of tabs you have to pry up to get it to disconnect, but it wasnt too hard to get off.

After that, go under your bumper, and on the drivers side, there is a wire harness that plugs into the fog lights, coming from up above the bumper. Disconnect that.

From there, there are 6 (3 on each side) 18MM bolts that attach the bumper to the frame rails. Remove the bolts, and the bumper will simply pull right off.

From here, transfer the fog lights and wire harness that ties both fog lights together to the new plastic bumper support beam.

Mount the metal bumper reinforcement beam and tighten. The reinforcement bar is only held in with ONE 18MM bolt on each side...

Install the plastic bumper beam with the fog lights and wire harness. This mounts with 4 bolts, and i sourced those from the old bumper, as well as the metal fastner "u" clips

After that is installed, go ahead and plug in the fog light harness on the drivers side.

From here, it is essentially as the dis-assembly, just reversed. The only main difference, is the bumper has all the tabs where the upper painted piece came out, so make sure to line up all of the tabs when you install the bumper. I had one tab not push in, and had to remove half of the tabs to get them all in there correctly. Also, there are four holes underneath on the air dam, and retainers push thru and into the plastic bumper bar. I used "christmas tree" fasteners that i purchased for those four places, as none of the fasteners off the old bumper would fit.

I wound up plasti-dipping my grille as well(no how to for that, but it was easy to do, and turned out OK) I will most likely be ordering the "RT" grille at some point and painting it black to completely match.

Thanks! I think next "project" is vinyl wrapping the rear bumper, and maybe some de-badging

Great work bud! Your work is inspirational to anyone sitting on the fence about the conversion.

Seems like quite a bit of small items transfer over.

A decent amount of small clips and bolts and such, not TOO bad, but if I find anyone to buy my old bumper. They aren't getting it complete with hardware lol

Looks sharp and thanks for the write-up. One question though. The plastic piece on top of the bumper support, did you have to buy that or are those also used on the 2-piece bumpers?

Those pieces get re-used, although I did buy them, I had a few words to say once I removed the top piece off the old bumper haha.
