Did Redline infringe on some trademarks?

Story and pics. Kind of cool reading about old oil companies and their names and the way they talked back then. Even though this pre dates synthetic, you see they were adding things to have premium oils.

EPA is forcing Average Joe diesel out of play in USA. First it was VW, then Audi? now Ram......Looks like a pattern to me!

With the new electric F-150 (that can pull a train [emoji57]) i think it’s obvious we will see a lot of electric options. But the government is too dependent on us buying oil (gasoline) and that will never change.

I would say Toyotas 5.7 is probably the most trouble free out of all of those. But I've read they're not easy to work on and parts are expensive....

Not a big enough sample to be fair. Toyota Tundra and Sequoia don’t sell enough to really have a great sample my neighbor has one and seems to like it. I would think with all this better economy stuff we will see more failures across the board. Unless of course people buy the good stuff.

While I agree it's pretty gatekeeping, IMO that's a quality control thing VS a pocket lining thing. You know if they didn't have that, some manufacture would be buying the cheapest junk; and if engines were to fail because of it, FCA would be on the hook for it.

Gotcha, thanks for sharing; didn't know you had one potato that young. Is there a reason you know it was the oil and just not a poorly built engine? Just asking.
No there is not although if Pennzoil is not really that spectacular at eliminating Hemi tick for more than a few miles than one would assume that it did little to keep the problem from progressing over the long term vs Redline. My logic is, is that if you try a brand/weight of oil and you're still getting the tic even if its considerably less on oil A than oil B its time to try oil C. Granted I only used 5W20 until Burla came over to the Z spreading the good word so maybe if I had used 5W30 from the start it wouldn't have happened. We'll never know it just put a bad taste in my mouth.
I would definitely consider trying something else but if the engine didn't sound similar to what it sounds like on Redline 5W30 and for at least 5K miles I would immediately switch back. I will never put 5W20 in a V8 engine again regardless of who the manufacturer is, although GM's new LS engines don't seem to mind 0W20 but they will definitely drink a quart or so with an extended drain interval.

If that is the case and I had the LS engine, I would use a conventional oil and go back to a 3000 mile oci.
