I'm getting a pioneer headunit for right now so that I have blutooth for my phone and more inputs for future additions to my system. For right now I'd like a single sub, preferably a 12 inch. When I save up the money I'll be doing a full system (highs w/ amp, dual 12 inch sundowns, etc) but for right now I'd like a little more bass. What's some good sub/amp combos for what I'm looking for? I've never done car audio but I'm slowly learning. I'll have a few friends help me do the install that have done it before. What are your guys suggestions ? Thanks!

What do you guys think of this setup? I'll use a vented fox box. What do you guys think of hifonics amps? Are they worth the 170$ for 1500 @ 1ohm and 1000 @ 2ohm? Is it clean power? The reviews for them are pretty good.uploadfromtaptalk1442410672569.jpg

Take a look at Skar VVX and the RP 1500.1, the sub is derived from the SA12 and the hifonics has been junk for many years now.

Edit: Or take a look at the SK1200.1, I had ran one for a year and it will do 1200w at 1 ohm without even getting warm.

What are some good amp companies? I'm going to run it at 2 ohms so I can add another in the future and run them at 1ohm.

Skar, Sundown, DD, Soundqubed, Mosconi/gladen, Arc, JBL, Kicker, many others out there. The thing with amps is you do get what you pay for so when you are getting under 1500 watts for under $250 MSRP it will for the most part be a short lived amp. The price range for that kind of power I like to shoot for is closer to $300+ as usually you get awesome customer service and warranty as well.

This is so true. We often have people bring us cheap amps/subs/wire... and it is junk. Last weekend I had a "Boss" 8 gauge amp kit... I'm pretty sure Kickers 16 gauge speaker wire had more strands than that crap. Half the time the equipment doesn't even work too.

I'm interested in the skar rp1500.1. That'll be 930 watts @ 2ohm and 1500 watts @ 1ohm if I ever decide to add a 2nd sub. What do you guys think of that? I've seen what these sa's can do with the right spec box and that much power. I think this thing is gonna slam.

I would like to mirror the wire statement, Runner you are 100% on the right path with picking up the KNU kit as all of their wire I've played with is over sized and very flexible. Just be careful if you heat it up as the jacket will melt pretty quickly with direct heat.

I installed one a couple of weeks ago, it replaced a audio planet 3000.1 amp and it is literally twice as loud now and bass digs deeper than on the cheap AP amp. I will also be installing one this weekend on a couple of Skar VD 10s and I can let you know how that goes as well.
