Tire question

The tires on my dad's truck are 285/65/R18. I found a tire on eBay for a good price... but it's 265/60/R18. Is there a huge difference in the size to where it'd be noticable looking at it and driving?

Also found a 255/55/R18 for even cheaper, would it work?

Are you just looking to replace 1 bad tire? If so, then you need to get the same size tire. If he is looking to replace all 4, then it doesnt really matter what size he goes with. Here are the specs on the tires you listed so that you can compare how those other sizes would look on his truck...

285/60/18 - 31.4" tall and 11.2" wide
265/60/18 - 30.5" tall and 10.4" wide
255/55/18 - 29.0" tall and 10.0" wide

personally i wouldn't go a smaller size. Also i just saw your other thread....Like hemi450hp said, you have to replace just one tire with the same size as the other three

Ok I figured that, I just wanted to make sure. But I think I have found a tire now at a really great deal on Craigslist... Hoping it'll work out!

Since the trucks 4x4 it's really important to get the same size
You trans/transfer case will be trying to spin them all the same amount which is why you get binding as you try to turn in 4x4 already
