Like an idiot I forgot to latch my tonneau cover yesterday and last night we had some crazy wind and rain come through I look out the window this morning to see my cover flipped up on the roof of the truck. Ran out and latched it back up but noticed the shark fin antenna put a nice 3in slit in it. I looked online and mostly found convertible top patches but not sure that would work here.

It's an Extang Signature Series canvas tonneau. This was not a cheap cover I'm so pissed at myself!!! Is there anyway to repair this permanently???

Good idea! There's a ton of sail makers around here.

Any ideas for a temp fix?

I'd just be happy it didn't dent the top and leave a crease . It's happened to me and did lots of damage to the top even chipped paint off .

To be honest I haven't looked at the roof yet because it's still a monsoon out. Probably should go check that....

Went out to inspect the roof this morning and found a couple dents. One is barely noticeable and the other creased the roof and cracked the paint right near the gutter. I through some touch up paint on that. Good thing it's just the roof and no one will see it.

Here's some pics of the tear in the cover.

Used some of that Flex Tape that you see on TV to make a temp repair. Honestly I'm pretty happy with it and might just run with it if it holds up.

Not sure if I should put anything on the outside or just leave it. There are some loose threads sticking up...

I would stitch it together to avoid that ice/snow/water rip it more open.
Once stitched the glue a patch over it from both sides to hide the seams and give extra strength.
Superglue or epoxy is hard and will break, use 3M 5200 or any other brand polyurethane glue as it will stay elastic and glues like hell!

Try E-6000 glue on both sides. It should dry clear and remain flexible. This suggestion came from the "boss" who is a professional seamstress who also does monograming, embroidery and custom sewing.

Well guys, make sure to latch your tonneau covers. Triple check it. Found this on my roof this afternoon. I had seen it dented the roof when the cover flipped up but I didn't see that it cracked the paint. I sanded the surface rust and put some touch up paint on it for now.

On a positive note, thanks to the suggestions on this thread the slit in the cover is holding up great so far.636668e784ee93b00bfba8dd9f97280f.jpg
