Hey I have a 2007 Ram megacab 1500/ actually a 2500 with the 5.7 Hemi and a 4 speed auto transmission. I was wanting to know if I’m able to do a 6 speed auto transmission swap. I was also wondering if I can what I would need to do to be able to do it.

Actually, the transmission that is in your truck is the 545RFE. It has 5 forward speeds thanks to the programming in the PCM.

When referring to the 6-speed Auto swap, did you have a transmission in mind that you wanted to complete the swap with?

Are you wanting to try to run the 65RFE from the late model RAM?

Just a little piece of info for the 65RFE transmissions. While the shift lever is in the Drive position the 65RFE transmission still shifts like a 545RFE with 5 forward speeds. You only get to use all 6 forward speeds while using the ERS, or Electronic Range Select, while manually operating the shift buttons on the shift lever.

The only viable 6-speed Auto swap, which sucks because it is a GM trans, that could be made to work with the least amount of Fabrication would be a GM 6L80/6L90 with a TCI brand TCU.

You would need to switch PCM's from an auto to a manual PCM. Also, you would need the 6L80 bellhousing adapter, a torque converter, a little driveshaft work and a transmission mount.

I would rather see the money spent on a custom Gear Vendors UD/OD unit.

There is more to this type of swap than what I have listed but that's where your research would have to start.

I agree. Since he was asking about a 6-speed automatic I gave him the easy info but if it were me I would stick the 8HP70 in it, get a manual trans PCM and call it a day.

That is the ultimate plan for mine, though the ZF 1st gear coupled with 4.56 gears doesn't sound like fun, except for maybe towing large vessels up on the beach lol.

I am working on an 8HP70 swap with a friend right now. The car is a 70 Demon with a very healthy 392/6.4 that made 766rwhp with a 46RE. It is a race car that sees severe street duty.

Currently the Dana 60 out back has a 4.30 gear and it will probably not play nice with the 4.7:1 first gear but we will see.

Sorry for the TYPO. The car is a 1971 Demon. My number pad on my laptop that I keep on top of my tool box is missing the cover for the number 0 and its really easy to hit the 0 when pressing 1 or 2.

LOL....nice, Demons are so much rarer than Dusters and look better IMO, and that's from someone who had two Dusters.

The Demons are great looking cars. I have always owned B-bodies and a C-body but I love all Mopars including the lightweight A-body cars like the Duster/Demon.

I currently have three B-Bodies and a
C-body in my stables along with three DR trucks.
My list is from age 17 to now lol.
Current stable is the 03 Ram, the 05 Mag R/T & the SRT Charger (not including the 05 Mag R/T I'm putting back together for the old lady that is currently occupying my garage). The 06 got wrecked by the locals, I bought it back and have slowly been taking parts off for the wagon and to sell.

I've been helping my Mom search for an SRT8 Magnum for the last couple of months. The ones we have looked at so far have had a lot of passes put on them.

My C-Body is a 1976 Plymouth Fury that was originally a police interceptor with a 440/727/3.23 car My grandpa bought it at a police auction in White Sands, NM in 1977 with 33,000 miles on it. It was my first car at 14. I drove it to high school in 1994 with a Texas Hardship license and then to college for 2 years. Good times. It saw drag strip action almost every weekend. In stock fashion it went 15.60's @ 88mph in the ¼ mile. Good times.

I miss my Road Runner the most. Found it at an abandoned house, gave my number to the neighbor. Got a phone call like 3-4 months later. $500 plus a **** ton of OEM parts but had to get it within 3 days (this was back in '96 before Barrett-Jackson & Mecum ****** up the hobby). SOLD! Found another 400 to put in it, had to rebuild the wiring harness (PO had a small block in a big block car and hacked up the harness accordingly). Local u-pull-it came in very handy. Was my daily for 2yrs, engine caught fire. Put it in storage, then got stationed all over the place. Decided to sell it since it would be a good long time before I was somewhere I could do something with it. Didn't wanna be that guy....was a sad rainy day 13yrs ago when I watched the guy load it...[emoji25]

Love that Roadrunner and the Monaco. I've let a few Mopars go that I hated to see go but **** happens. This is my 1969 Dodge Charger. My parents took me to the hospital to be born in this car. It's an original B5 Blue 318ci/904 car. michaels pics 164.JPGmichaels pics 163.JPG
