Not sure if this is the right section, as I am pretty clueless when it comes to diesels but my uncle called me with a question about his '99 cummins.
He said he filled up with diesel this morning and drove the truck around for the rest of the day without any issues. Killed it a few times and restarted just fine. Stopped at a store and came back out, got in the truck and fired it up. He says he barely touched the pedal and his truck took off like it was on the floor. As soon as he let off, it slowed down like normal. Every time he does it, it'll try to run away from him like that.
Cruising or with the pedal pushed down between 1/4 throttle and just shy of WOT, it surges pretty bad. I was on the phone with him and I could hear it doing it driving down the road bs while he was in park or neutral.
Now if this was a gas engine, I'd tell him to start with the TPS or cam/crank sensors. I do know that on his truck, the TPS isn't just a sensor it's part of the aluminum housing the throttle cable attaches to.
Any ideas as to what could be the issue with his truck? There is a CEL showing but he doesn't have a code scanner so we're gonna let it sit overnight and I'm going over there in the morning with mine to pull the code
