I've been perusing the internet trying to figure if there was a way to mirror my iPhone onto my Uconnect 5.0 screen. I was looking at upgrading to the infotainment upgrade to the 8.4 4C NAV UAQ Retrofit Kit with Apple CarPlay for nearly $2100, which appears to be the only way they have to do this, (they do have other 8.4 Uconnect kits ranging from $1000 on up but doesn't seem like they can mirror either)...

I really don't want or need most of the features of the 8.4 (but the bigger screen would be nice) and I don't really need the Nav as I think the WAZE app on my phone is far better anyway, and free to boot. I think it would be nice, especially as I get older and need reading glasses close up if I could get the iPhone screen to mirror on the 5.0 screen which is a little bigger than the iPhone screen (and a hair closer to my eyes compared to where I mount the iPhone when driving) so that I could actually read the small print on the WAZE alerts as I drive since I really can't be changing glasses while I drive so I can read it. (It would also be nice if the WAZE app would let you adjust the font size but that's another thread).
So, I did run across this...(although this is shown on a Jeep Uconnect 5.0 as you probably all know it's the same radio as the Ram 5.0)...

So, according to this, I could mirror my iPhone on the Uconnect 5.0 for either $374.99 (wired) or $424.99 (wireless). I was just wondering if anyone has done this and if so was there any problems doing it or if it even worked reliably? Any recommendations or cautions on this setup? Any alternatives that would accomplish this that I haven't found?
