Uconnect 8.4 constantly restarting issue

My 2018’s Uconnect has been restarting every 30 seconds since Friday night. I went to the dealer and they said a ton of people called that day with the same problem.

Went on google and it’s an issue across every FCA product with the 8.4 Uconnect and it all started Friday/Saturday.

I’m glad it’s a software issue and not a hardware issue and that it’s clearly affecting a lot of vehicles not just mine, but it’s really a pain in the ass. I literally can’t use anything in my truck because it’s all connected through the Uconnect. Extremely inconvenient.

Whoever else is having this problem let me know if you’ve figured out a fix.

I’ve got a 2018 and have not experienced this issue yet. I was on the road for most of Friday evening and ran a couple errands on Saturday. Is this issue tied to a software update for Uconnect 8.4 that was deployed?

The dealer said it had something to do with an update and XM. Some people aren’t affected but there are a lot that are.

What version software do you have?

I updated mine a week ago but I haven’t experienced any issues. I updated mine via USB

This problem surfaced for me this morning for the first time. Took delivery of my 2018 Ram Sport 10 days ago. No issues until this morning - constant reboot every couple of minutes. Not only is it immensely annoying, the stereo, phone, and nav are useless. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Calling the dealer shortly.

I believe Jeep had this issue a few months back. SXM did an update and it did not play well for their UConnect systems. It took a few days for them to figure it out and push a fix out for it.

My 2016 RAM w/ 8.4 has not seen the issue yet.

I think I fixed it.

If you enter a destination into the nav it won’t shut off. So I did that to bide me time. I went into the settings and the reset tab I restored my personal data and restored settings. It hasn’t shut off since.

Hope this helps. Will check on it again in an hour.

Hmm My 2018 8.4 NAV hasn't shown any signs. I Drove it friday and then today and nothing.

Never mind it’s still F***ed not working. It only stays on if I have a destination set in my nav. Weird..

Mine started on Sunday. Dealer said Dodge did an over air wireless update that caused problem. Waiting to hear if a wireless patch update will be sent out or if it will need to go back to dealer. Picked up truck Friday problem started Sunday after update only 100 miles on truck. Not what I expected.

Can one of you guys go into dealer mode (temp up, temp down, and front defrost together for a few seconds) and then go into the radio part info screen and post what your firmware version is?

Unfortunately there is no factory reset on these radios like the Harman’s had.

Wow, I drove my truck yesterday just a few miles and back, no problems. Now I’m wondering if I should go check...2017 Ram 8.4NAV
EDIT: I did just notice my Uconnect app on my iPhone had an update that came out just today. Hmm...

This only affects the 2018 RAMs with the new Panasonic Radios.

As long as you have a destination set in the nav and there’s an ongoing route it stays on. So I’ve just been leaving it on.

My 2018 has been working fine. OP, is yours nav or non nav? Just seeing if there is a corellation. My radio did reset a single time the other night while driving and I was like “oh great, here we go,” but it never did it again and it’s been fine ever since.
