I've used Mobil 1 full synthetic years ago on my '03 Dakota and first 4th gen. Never experience any oil related issues. I have since changed philosophies and use only factory recommended MS6395 certified oil (Pennzoil), and OEM oil filter (either M-889 or M-339).

Best regards,
Dusty

That dealer oil comes from the same oil companies that sell to Walmart and others. And most oil filters come from one filter manufacturer,I'm not saying all filters are equal tho. If an engine requires sn designated oil any sn oil is good as long as the grade will work in the engine, Right or wrong that's the way I roll. Lol

Hey everyone, first thread! Went to my local auto part store to get oil and a filter for my ‘16 1500 with a 5.7. The miserable old man behind the counter went up one side of me and down the other because Mobil 1 didn’t have a Chrysler certification and I should have been using an OEM filter instead of a Mobil 1. I’ve been using Mobil 1 in my truck since brand new every 4-5k miles I now have a tick over 50k. Plus I’ve been using Mobil 1 going on 20 years without any issues. Has anyone else been running M1 in their 4th Gen without issues? Am I causing damage I’m unaware of? I know some people believe if you don’t use strictly OEM your truck will burst in flames and satan will take your first born son.
Just go on and keep using Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 filters. Mobil 1 meets or exceeds the FCA requirement. It's just they have not taken the time and expense to go through that certification process. I'd be far more concerned that any oil used has the correct API rating.

My current oil is M1 full synthetic. It’s been nothing but a bunch of new noises from my engine. I just got a call that my redline 5w20 and RP filter are in and will be switching to that this Friday.

Let us know how it works out, and don't forget sometimes it takes 500 miles plus for the formula to start working. It is the science of extreme pressure additives and forum members have experienced this.

I've used Mobil 1 in every vehicle I've owned for the last 25 years, including three different Ford Rangers, an 89' GMC, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT, a Chrysler 200, a 2003 Durango, and my wifes current 2013 Ram 1500 crew cab w/ 5.7 Hemi with 176000 miles on it. I've never had a single engine related issue, period. No Hemi knock, no broken studs, no dead lifters, no wiped cam. On every vehicle except the Ram, I change oil at 5000 miles. The Ram gets to go 10,000 miles between changes, but 97.5% of it's miles are highway miles, the wife drives 150 miles a day. Either my wife's truck got the very last good Hemi made, or ya'all ain't fessing up about how you're abusing your trucks.

I have been using the mobil1 filter since new-2012--however alway ran pup synthetic. I researched the mobil1 filter and thats why I continue to use it-but make sure its the one for full synthetic oil m1-210 dont sweat it buddy -just do your changes on time

Champion labs, which is Fram now. Makes a lot of these too if not always they have at times. Most every filter out there they have made it and put the labels on it.Largest maker out there probably of private label filters. They make Mopar filters and other oem filters. And have made filters for other filter makers too. There is a website but I cant find the link that shows how each filter is made and some are better than others,if not in filtration but by the construction methods at least.K&N filters were better constructed if I remember correctly and a very few others were mentioned.

Wix Filtration makes Napa and Carquest filters. But I believe the Fram co. that was known as Champion has probably the largest market share in the U.S. Some companies are not located here.

The sun set on Mobil 1 many years ago.
There are superior offerings available.
There have always been better offerings, but the sun is far from setting on Mobil 1 oil.

That just sounds like an uninformed fanboy comment. We all know your redline or a soil is great, but they just like the others all post selective facts to show their product far superior to brand x

When you wage a personal attack over someone's opinion, it just makes your argument weak, and there is a name for it, ad hominem.

There are plenty of applications that I would choose m1 over redline as a matter of fact. But that doesn't mean the strategy of using higher additive oils is a strategy without legitimate thought for illegitimate reasons. There is a reason why so many ram owners are learning about lubrication and discussing it, we are all trying to make an informed choice and we have our own preferences, and collectively we have made some real progress. If you have hemi tick on m1 and don't on a different oil, then you would also think there is a better choice for that specific application, even if people called you names for this silly fact that you killed hemi tick just by changing your oil. If someone tells you the oil that makes your truck tick when another oil makes it quiet I am kinda doubting you would believe it.

It is what it is, it is very linear and simple, but that doesn't mean there isn't complicated science behind what has happened here. I was certainly surprised at the results of this entire forum and everyone who has made the choice, but it is a pleasant surprise for sure. That doesn't mean m1 isn't a great oil because I believe it most certainly is. But as it turns out in some cases there is little doubt another formula is keeping hemi tick away that was ticking on m1 and other group 3 otc oils. If this was you, and you literally changed your m1 to redline and had your engine stop knocking, you would be a fan boy as well.

I am a long time Mobil 1 user as well. What weight Mobil 1 goes in the Ram Hemi, 5w20, or 5w30?
