Water pump install

Installing a new water pump and not at my house the copy of the service manual. Does the pump gasket get sealant when installing? I personally don't like RTV, but wanted to know what the service manual says. Anything else I should know when going back together?

It doesn't require a sealant, but I usually put a thin layer on both sides to help seal any imperfections in the mating surface. I usually apply a thin layer almost as if I were using stick glue. A little dab'll do ya, big gob will screw ya.

Then just make sure the bypass hose goes onto the nozzle on the pump as you're installing it, then torque it down to 30ftlbs
