i use the oil that ram installs from dealer oil changes. when i have my son change oil for me it's toyota brand synthetic. a quick change to petroleum oil will tell you if its internal... dealer synthetic, toyota synthetic. is what has been in my 5.7 2014 135000 miles my old 1999 ram cummins had 10000 on petroleum then 269K miles on amsoil synthetic. no engine problems on either truck.

I use Castrol Edge 5W20. I am happy camper. My RAM loves it. My brother in law 2019 had a real bad lifter noise, we changed the oil yesterday to Castrol 5W20 high millage. So far no noise.

If you locate the LubeGard survey, here at Ram Forum, you will discover a significant success rate using the Bio Tech oil additive.

I am happy with Castrol Edge 5W20. For me I have no reason to use BioTech.
