Hey guys. I've been searching all over the place trying to decide wtf Im gonna do. I think I have narrowed it down to the following, let me know your thoughts. This truck is not going to be off-roaded. Shes a pavement queen. ITs a 2004 QC 1500 4X4 Hemi

Option 1: 6" skyjacker susp lift, torsion keys (already on), 3" rear shackles (already on), XD800 (5" bS) 18x9 rims with 35" Nitto Mud Grapplers (or maybe 37's ????not sure if I can fit)

Only reason this is not a for sure is the exhaust mod that had to be done for the cross pipe I think ???

Option 2: 5" Rough country susp lift, 3" body lift, torsion keys (on), 3" rear shackles (on), XD800 18X9 rims with 37" Nitto Mud Grapplers

I know the SJ lift is better and my local price is $1700.00 for just the lift. But the RC w body should lift higher.

Or maybe I just do the 6" SJ with the 37's and change my gears ??? IDK Im so lost. Sry to bring up an old thread but I just dont want to make the wrong choice

Ideas ????

Thanks Guys.

If youre not planning on any off roading at all I wouldn't go with a suspension lift. I mean it all depends on how much you're willing to spend. A suspension will obviously be better performance wise. Body lift easier on the wallet. Going back to that, if you have the wallet for 37's and gears definitely go with those. Big heavy mud tires don't like stock gears, but a tuner can help you get some power back as a cheaper alternative to new gears. If you're gonna spend 3+ grand for a lift gears wheels and tires, I don't know why you wouldn't take it off road, especially if it's a 4x4... unless you're going for a show truck. Just my 2 cents.

Well, I just dont want to mark up the truck and stuff. I winter store it and keep it real clean. I know, I know my buddies all make fun of how clean I keep it and ya its a 4X4 herd it all, lol. My budget is around $4000.00 for everything. Maybe id get the look Im after with my current 3" susp lift and doing a body ??? and 35's ??? Man, Im so lost here.

I don't recommend the 3" body lift as it will show too much frame and stuff you won't wanna see and then you will have to paint the stuff if you are a fanatic. I realized this after doing a 1" lift. The Skyjacker is a good kit from the reviews i've read. With keys and a six inch kit and adjusting the rear to give a perect leveling or very slight rake ( i prefer that) your truck would look great. Buy the tallest 35 you can get IMO but realistically if you go 37's you will want 4:56's. 13-14 hours labour is the expense cause its not a DIY. I had to pay $ 100 an hour Labour which is normal for Canada. Perhaps do your lift and 35's to start and see how it runs. You can always add the gears and 37's down the Road.

As for off road, I don't do any either because I would prolly break something.

Fireman, what gears do you have now? You could easily fit 35's as it sits now. But if you have the option to go with new gears and 37's , I would do that. Go with the Skyjacker lift as well.

Holly facking ship wreck, thats one big mother f n rig !!! :peace:

Catchin Zs, I have no idea what gears I have now. Its stock SLT 1500 (2004). Im leaning more and more to the 6" SJ and the 35's. Does anyone know if the Nitto Mud Grapplers run tall of short on the 35's ? Or other sugg. on different rubber. Ive herd the Nittos are loud, but the look would be worth it to me :naughty:

35's are perfect. You don't need to regear with 5's or 7's but I would egear if you go with 7's. 5's do look a little small on a 6" but, it'll be fine. I run that setup. I think mud grapps run a tad under a true 35. My 35's mickey thompsons are 34.7

They are just support bars for the control arm drop. If you look in your glove box, there should be a sticker that says the gear ratio on it, mine was 3:92 and I ran 35x12.50x20 Mud Grapplers with no problem, then I upgraded to the 4:56's for the 40's.

I would've gotten bigger tires, but they don't make Mud Grapplers any bigger than 40" and that is the tire I wanted. I may buy a set of bigger tires eventually, probably 46's or 48's for deep mud, but I haven't quite decided yet..... lol

Anyone got pictures of their truck with either 4.5 - 5" negative backspacing ? Kinda wanna get an idea how much the wheels will stick out. Gonna run the 35X12.5X17 Mud Grapplers. Got a great price today from my local tire shop.
