I once pulled a loaded construction office trailer with my '97 1500 5.2 - far heavier than my tow capacity and couldn't move it until I pulled the level to 4wd low lock and that big gear did the job.

My truck was pretty unhappy with me.

There are many many Vehicles that you can leave the driveline in and haul around with the transfer case in neutral.

hell 4th gen ram 4x4's you can provided all 4 wheels are on the ground, like behind an RV. Most Jeeps can be hauled safely with no damage. Any GMC 4x4 that you can get the transfercase into neutral you can tow it with any combo of wheels off and on the ground you want across the country safely.

Nothing big at all. Little trailers, like the one below, is all I've towed with this truck:

Didn't even need to fold out the mirrors with this one!!! LOL

I towed our new JD9560R out of the shop and about 500 feet to where we loaded it up today. Blown transmission so even though it is only about four months old, it is headed back to the dealer.

41,500 or so pounds.

Not this one but one exactly like it. (this came from the JD brochure)

Yer not supposed to tow a cherokee backwards like that. The manual says it could cause the back glass to break, since it isn't designed for the air pressure it sees.

At least the manual on my two say that.

It depends on the height of your trailer draw bar, and the coupler size ... I had my 2 1/2" drop and a 1 7/8" ball on my 1/2 ton that worked often enough I still cary it in my 3500.

Most trailers are 2" these days unless they are heavy then you will be at 2 5/16"

I use 4" drop for boat and straight tri ball for trailers that weigh a lot like the one below. This was before airbags though so I can use 4" drop for all now.

The larger the shank the higher capacity it can handle.
