As the title describes.

What's the most (semi verified) you've towed with your 1500. Either in the bed of the truck or towed behind?

I know it's trivial, but I've been hauling allot of rock lately and the guy at the rock place said he's seen people out 2 ton in the back of a half ton truck and drive off.....they cringed all the while loading them.

During my last PCS Move My 2015 1500 5.7 4x4 I’ve towed my wife’s mazda 3 on a Uhaul auto transport. The car was loaded full of stuff. Weight for the car/trailer was just over 6,300Lbs. I also had about 500LBS in the bed. Went well overall. I was on the bump stopes however.

I hauled about 18 loads of dirt in a dump trailer that has the short sides. Filled flat to the top and I filled the corners too. It had dual 8lug axles and I bent them both.

No idea how heavy it was but it was way up there.

Per scales I’ve had as much as 8,200 on the truck axles. Thats about 5 percent over the combined axle rating. But I don’t like being over the 7,800 combined axle even with air bags & E loads. You wouldn’t want to swerve around an accident or stop really fast.

Per scales I’ve had 15,800 CVW. Max 4th gen CVWR for the 1500 is 15,950. Surprisingly with turbo brake & TBC well and trailer brakes there was no worries about controlling speed heating up your brakes or stopping when coming down a 5 percent grade. In fact the original brakes on my Ecodiesel went 293,000 and the second set is still on it with 400,000 miles on the clock.

Been there done that, I switched to a 2500 and that truck laughed at 1 ton of weight in the bed. Put the same 1 ton in my old half ton and it had me seriously worried lol

2010 ram quad cab 5.7, 3:21 rear, 2wd, company job site truck. We put 4100lbs of scaffold material in it. Not driven on public roads, though. It didn’t look very happy.

I had a 1989 Chevy k1500 4x4 years ago I installed one ton rear springs on it. Great truck, I loved it. The springs were direct bolt on.

One time I hauled 2300lb of sand in the bed about 5 or so miles back to my house. I went slow and gave myself lots of stopping distance. With the one ton springs it handled the weight well, but I was really concerned about the rear axles and lug studs. I really don't want to do anything like that again.

Cool. Good work! What is the trailer gvwr? If the pin alone is over 1400 with nothing else added, including you and any passengers aren't you over your payload limit by a lot?

Just curious, I'm not criticizing at all. If it works for you and it's safe, that's all that matters.

I hauled a 7200lb mini excavator on a 2500lb trailer about 100km round trip to do some digging at my cottage.

I towed an 8,400 lb DRY weight TT once ....only once ...it was not dry when I towed it . Won't do that again as I felt is was a bit much for my 2014 1500 QC , 4X4 , 6speed xsmn with .355 differentials.

This was only about 45 miles for a buddy .

He estimated the total wt at less than 10k he told me it was gonna be dry and empty when I got there ....it wasn't .

Anyway for my truck I have towed a confirmed 7,848 lbs and it pulled it fine ...

your not quite set up properly you should have more weight on your front axle at least 200 lbs it would have handled better for you.

Yea it was a borrowed trailer for a one time trip and possible purchase. The camper was way to heavy for my truck and wasn’t what we were wanting. So we didn’t get it.

I know my dad hauled 4000+ in his 09 Hemi crew with 3.55 gears. He was getting rock to fill in the driveway. I told him next time please use the trailer. He has P SERIES tires on that thing. I think a year or two later the 3.55 rear had to be rebuilt under the lifetime warranty haha.
