Which Transmission

I am looking at a 2007 3500 crew cab dually with the 6 speed transmission. I have been told these trucks have the Allison trans in them. It has the 6.7 Cummins . Is this correct or not ? I know that the older Dodges had trans and converter issues, I had a 1998 Dodge with the 360 in it and the first time I towed with it the trans failed.

I think you're right about the Allison. A buddy of mine had one with over 300k and not one problem. The body just fell apart is the only reason he got rid of it.

Dodge does not use allison. The newest cummins have 3 options, regular auto, aisin 6 speed auto and a manuel trans
In 2007 i think it was still the 46re

Dodge /Ram has been blessed with Cummins. Chevy and GMC get Allison trannys. I may be wrong but you may be able to get an Allison conversion for Dodge / Ram.

I swear that 's what he told me. It was a 2nd gen. ordered new. Next time I see him I'll ask.
