As most of you know, my main hobby aside from trucks is shark fishing. We camp on the beach for days at a time, never bring less than 6-8 heavy rods, and I have a 12' kayak that we use each trip as well. That is a lot of gear for a little 6' bed, so I installed a new aluminum TracOne rack last week.

From here, I decided to get creative. My fishing gear is not cheap, so I am always concerned about theft when we go into gas stations or are passed out asleep on the beach at night. That is why I mounted a locking ski rack on top of the rack. I also added some kayak saddles to prevent from smashing the hull of the kayak when I strap it down...

And here it is with the kayak up top and the rods locked in place...Its amazing how much more space is available for gear without having the big kayak sticking out the back of the bed.

Nice rack! :naughty:

Looks good. Did you change your mind on doing the custom shark fishing trailer?

This rack will never see more than about 100lbs, but I really like the powdercoated aluminum. It is very lightweight, and wont rust on me out there at the beach. The locking ski rack worked perfect for securing the rods...not only does it help against theft, but it keeps the rods and reels from getting banged up in the bed as well.

Bailey, the trailer was nice, but this is so much easier and doesn't take up any space in the garage. Now that we park my wife's Jeep in the Garage, there isn't much room for all my junk and other fishing gear.
