my 81 with a holley never had an issue starting below 0. i have a feeling i may be dropping the carb back on on the next warm day because the fitech seems like it is junk. haven't been able to get my truck started since Saturday not for a lack of trying. came close a few time when boosting it with the 89 but no dice.Installed a coolant heater. When I removed the plug on the bottom of the engine block to install the heater hose fitting no coolant came out. Thought for a moment I pulled the wrong plug but turns out it was just clogged up with sediment. Now with the heater installed it should start it when it gets below zero.

i did change the battery in the 89 today. the old battery is a ok summer battery but just didn't have enough to start a v8 when it is 0*f. my spare battery had no problem doing the job even after just sitting in my dads ford for the last few months. he can have my old interstate battery from my RC. it has got to be 10+ year old but still seems in pretty decent shape. definitely not bulging like it has be frozen.

i got my 81 running with the fitech and it almost seems back to normal but hopefully it will start better tomorrow. it was completely miserable to get started today. had to boost/charge it using my 89 and the big battery charger and it still struggled to get going. sent fitech off some log files and some video and hope someone will be able to point me in the right directions. it is frustrating. i really want it to work but it feels like it is fighting me all the way.
it started a lot better today than it did yesterday so i really not sure what to do. hoping it might stay that way. still got to add a bit more cranking fuel but i knew it would need that but can't get it adjusted right if you can't get it running. maybe the computer or an injector froze or somethings. i am hoping i can get this thing dialed in. i really want it to work so i can justify buying one for the elcamino or swapping it over.
looks good. at least break lines are easy to bend by hand. i know this is likely not as big of an issue in you neck of the woods but usually i run rubber line from the sending unit to the front of the tank in the frame. that way you can replace the steel line if you ever needed to without having to take the bed off or dropping the tank. plus it might look a tiny bit cleaner if done that way.slow progress on my build but did get somethings done. bent some new brake lines to my rear disc conversion. had to hand bend them, someone was kind enough to relieve me of my tubing benders. luckily they didn't get my flaring tool.
then got my gas tank mounted.
