Reg cab short box /end thread lol

But also, cross hair grill, no start-stop, no lane depature, no automatic braking, etc.

It's basically the last truck available without extra electronic bs to break, but mostly RCSB.

Amen on all of the above, plus no cylinder deactivation or mild hybrid on my V-6 Classic.

The 5th gen that I looked at had a flat floor in the back and no need for the fold out. I would have preferred that but not for the price difference. I have two huskies so the room in the back seat is important and the fold flat floor works fine but a flat floor without it would have been better imo.

Our dogs are "height challenged", lol.

When I saw my first Ram classic, I chuckled because I thought that the driver just put a little “classic” plate on under the 1500 to be funny.

Someone asked me too, why the "Classic"....I explained, they said "well, makes sense then".

Now to confuse them, I put this on tailgate LOL

The 5th gens to me are just butt ugly.
Though I could live with a Rebel or a totally blackout out version so you can’t make the frontend out too much. The tail lights look like cheaper Nissan/Toyota on the styling.
Then it’s the stupid hood badge that isn’t a stick on that would require a patch panel and some body work to get rid of it.
The last is the price. I was up at the dealer for an oil change on my wife’s Grand Cherokee, loaded Laramie Limited was $72k...for a 1/2 ton gasser, right next to it was a 5th gen 2500 Laramie Limited with the diesel for a G more.

My male husky is a little chubby and isn’t a great jumper. So he needs help getting in unless he is super excited and then he can get in on his own. So when we are leaving home to go somewhere he gets in on his own. When we are coming back and he is tired then he needs help. Hmmm maybe he has US trained more than I want to let on haha. Our female jumps in quite easily, it’s just a matter of making sure she jumps on top of the hammock cover I bought and not underneath it.

I went with the gen 4 as I really like the look of the truck. I went to the dealer and looked at the new Gen 5 Sports but they did not do anything for me. The Interior was sweet but the exterior had the same appeal to me as a Tundra - none. I wanted the auto transfer case so I could not get a 2019 Classic as they only came with the part time case so I decided to look for the truck I really wanted which was a Hydro Blue 2018 Sport.

The dealer just informed me that there is a new Laramie with the gen 2 diesel built on the classic platform that has the auto transfer case. That may be nice gen 4 option also.

IMO they look more like a car than a truck...which is why they look much better when lowered. I can barely classify any 1500 a truck anymore however at least the 4th gens look like a truck.

The discounts on the classics were outstanding and the looks of the 5th gen reminds me of older model chevy's, not that that's bad, just not for me.

The hood badges look like cheap after market pieces. I haven't read any comments where owners actually like them.
Last year there was a Ram advertising insert in Motor Trend trying to make the hood badges sound like a necessary thing because there were no straight body pieces on the side of the new Ram to mount the badges. That is pure bull. Plastic can be formed to any shape. What is the excuse for the hood badges on the new HD models? It has the same side sheet metal as the previous generation, and still they insist on installing the ugly badges that cannot be removed without major body and paint work.
The gap where the hood meets the ugly brow is horrible also. It looks like the body panels were misaligned from the factory, when in fact they were designed that way.
The front of the new Ram needs redesigned asap. I agree with some who say it is previous gen Chevy like. I can't remember how many Silverados I have seen coming at me with the body color front end and thought it was a Ram. I also agree the blackout version masks a lot of the design flaws. The Rebel is the only front end that actually looks better than the Classic version. The worst is the Longhorn. That grill design is so generic that if you pulled the 'RAM' from the center of it, many wouldn't know what kind of truck it was. At least the previous gen was easily identifiable without a name plate or badges even from a distance. The new model is not.

Price. Was looking at a Tacoma SR5.

Salesman walked me to the Ram Classic (Warlock 4x4 5.7) for 38k. SOLD!

Looks. The look is literally classic now - all the other brands moved on long ago. I personally think Fiat made a good decision keeping the old model for sale.

Ride-Quality. The quality of the ride is top of the line, it gets some of the best ratings for trucks in this line.

The "classic" Rams are one of the best rated trucks. YES PLEASE.

Just got a ride in my mother in-laws boyfriends 2018 Tundra - I was not impressed, especially what he paid for it.

For me, it was the most truck for the money. 5.7 Hemi is a rock solid engine and the fact that you anyone can mod these trucks to add whatever options they want is a no-brainer to me. Not too mention this was the truck that my 7yo fell in love with and said would be hers when she starts to drive.

First off, I like (and own) a 4th gen Ram. But what is the attraction to still buy a Ram Classic when the 5th gen has been out a while? Is it Price, Style, Familiarity, lack of specific features on the 5th gen ....other??

Just curious what factors motivated you to buy a Ram Classic instead of a 5th gen?

For me I couldn't afford the power wagon and didn't like the rebel so I got a warlock witch only comes as a classic plus I wanted no parts of the e-torq my wife works for FCA
