Didn't realize my 2015 outdoorsman was special just figured all trucks were flex fuel ready. It has a yellow gas cap by the way and is the v6.

No, ,they aren't all flex fuel ready now. The 3.6 and the 4.7 are FFV meaning they can take E85. The 5.7 is still not FFV, although it can take E15 2016+.

Are there any different part numbers for a 2015 vs 2016? Manual's can get updated phrasing without any actual physical differences in an engine (note how 2022 hemis use 0w-20 whereas my 2019 calls for 5w-20: nothing changed in the engine, but the manual was updated).

Anyone who is that concerned about it are free to not use it. Unless or until our choices are reduced to only e15, we can decide not to use it. If your owners manual specifically says not to use anything higher than e10 then you're wise to avoid it of course.

I don't know why everyone keeps bringing up 4th gens or even 3rd gens in this thread. I would expect this discussion in the 3rd or 4th gen forums, but it's a moot point for 5th gens.

For now. The agrilobby is working continously to have govt mandate it on all of us. It is a current issue at the state level here in MN.
The best govt that money can buy off.

Lol, it's shocking to see this thread still going. I've got to imagine the vast majority of posters would have to try to find E15, and would have one hell of a time, even if they did want it for whatever reason.

Reality is, if you aren't already running it in the winter you won't be running it now. Hard stop.

Talk about a mountain out of a mole hill.

This may not change how the vehicle performs, but after you see how much MORE the price of beef, chicken, pork, just about everything produced and manufactured in the US go UP and UP...we may not be able to afford the fuel. Our pricing in the US on almost every food commodity is based on corn. Now farmers that typically produce some other crop will switch to corn (and who can blame them). Incoherent short sighted leadership will 1) starve us. 2) put us in war. 3) Enrich our enemies.

Buckle up folks, it is gonna be a rough ride

You must not understand- its not just e15 as a fuel but it has a major impact on many other things we buy. Maybe you should just scroll on by if the subject bothers you so much.

Luckily being on Oklahoma I have stations around me that sell zero ethanol gas and that’s what I use. I’ll gladly pay a couple extra dollars for real 93 octane. I have no intention of using it.

It's political smoke and mirrors to make this administration seem like something is being done to help people afford gas. As pointed out by many previously, any monetary advantage will be canceled by less fuel mileage. The only winner is the ethanol industry that is heavily subsidized by the government.

Oh I understand just fine. The vast majority of posts in this thread is around if our engines can use it or not, as they should be considering this is a RAM truck forum. I don't see many, if any, posts around whatever major impacts you're going on about. I am curious though... how bad did those "major impacts" hit you in 2019?

For anything less than 87 Octane; I know that Ford has a bulletin out that octane less than 87 can DAMAGE engines. Some of the corn pone gas blends are low octane.

Isn't it right in the owners manual? From my 2016 it even states the following, so I would assume it would be at the very least the same for the 5th gen.

DO NOT use gasoline containing methanol or gasoline
containing more than 15% ethanol (E-15). Use of
these blends may result in starting and drivability
problems, damage critical fuel system components
cause emissions to exceed the applicable standard,
and/or cause the “Malfunction Indicator Light” to
illuminate. Please observe pump labels as they
should clearly communicate if a fuel contains greater
than 15% ethanol (E-15).

E-85 Usage In Non-Flex Fuel Vehicles
Non-Flex Fuel Vehicles (FFV) are compatible with gasoline
containing up to 15% ethanol (E-15). Gasoline with
higher ethanol content may void the New Vehicle Limited
Warranty.
If
SAME in MY 19 Bighorn Manual (5.7L non etorque).

I know it is pretty rough on old stuff. one of my harleys is carbureted and every year I have to replace the o'rings in the carb because they dissolve. I buy the ones that are supposedly ethanol resistant but they still disappear at some point during the riding season and the bike wont idle or run without popping. sure enough no o'rings left.
