Gentlemen,
My PSC1 is still not operating properly, so ignore any and all information I have provided as apparently it is not correct. I apologize and will not comment on it further until I have this sorted out.

Well I spent about 3 days reading everything on the net on tuning available for us 03 guys (haha love the name "the forgottens") I bought my truck new in May of 2003, I have added 4.56 gears, 3000 converter, aluminum driveshaft, Superchips tuner, ported throttle body, long tube headers, no cats, 3" pipes with Flowmasters dumped at the rearend, E-fan, 180 stat, and a CAI...I blow the motor up after 10 years, 86k hard heavy footed miles and 11 sets of tires haha so since the motor is out I'd love to cam it but am more concerened with having my boy run right more than anything. Stu@Inertia says he can tune...should I try the 'stack' and keep my Superchips, or just run my 6.1 cam and keep her simple? Any help would be great...sorry about the long winded post haha, I have checked out most all of the forums over the years and this was the best thread so far, so I signed up, thanks guys...James

You can keep your SC, but throw a 260 in there instead. It will run on SC and is a better torque cam than a 6.1.

Anybody on here run one with the stock PCM? I figured I am probably running lean with just the stuff I have bolted on. I am interested in keeping my Superchips and taking the chance in doing the 'stack' with a DSP also, Stu said that would get the most out of my motor especially with a cam...this thread is a bit older, any newer updates to the power steering unplug potential solution? If this was putting a cam in my Roadrunner Id already be out blowing the tires off haha

Hmmm this is an old thread, the power steering switch works as advertised. Cold startup at 800 rpm dropping to 630-650 rpm when warm. I have the window switch set at 1100 rpm. Above 1100 rpm closes the switch, below opens it. This has worked flawlessly. I also used a SC tuner (91 tune) and a PSC1-003 to run a 112lsa Crazy Spartan without dtc's. This has been a really good setup pulling 12.6 AFR @ wot and idling nice. The only thing I suggest is to use a LP booster as the PSC1 modifies the MAP sensor signal and can adversely affect LP. Good luck..

I haven't read through this thread for a long time, maybe easier to just state what you are having a problem with or what you are trying to do and one of the 03 guys will attempt to help.

Pure stock differences:
03 hemi has ECM & TCM vs 04+ integrated PCM
03 hemi has 1 cat con vs 2 for 04+
03 hemi does not have EGR vs 04-08 which do
03 you can disable TM by pulling wire, however 04+ you can do this with programmer

Tuning is where it gets us:
Cannot adjust idle
Can only adjust speed and rev limiters with Superchips
Cannot tune transmission; side effect of this is even if you adjust the rev
limiter, if you don't shift manually it will still shift at the normal 5700rpm

Just what I can remember off the top of my head, I'm sure I'm forgetting something

Yes, but it isn't a straight install. I only know of one successful conversion, but it was an 02 4.7 to an 03 hemi setup, then he converted to 05 hemi. Everything worked, with a few codes (EGR, O2 sensor).

I have no experience doing this, but it looks interesting to use a 4.7 PCM which uses a drive by cable TB and is supported by SCT custom tunes. It's odd that the hemi is not supported, maybe it is about the hemi using a DBW TB?

There are conversion kits that let you swap to the cable TB's for the Hemi. My friend recently did his Hemi and loves it more now than he ever did.

That is very interesting. Can you get some information about doing this conversion? I know a lot of folks would be interested.
Thanks,

One would be a large selection of TB's at relatively cheap prices. Some others are separate TPS and IAC control. The more things are broken into module/components the more they can be manipulated.
