Galaxy S5 and Uconnect

Hey guys,

I have a 2012 1/2 Ton Big Horn with the 430n system in it. I just switched from an iPhone 5s (That worked with no issues whatsoever) to a Samsung Galaxy S5 and I'm having several problems with the bluetooth functionality.

1st, when I make a call with a voice command, the call lasts only about 5 seconds before it's dropped.

2nd, uConnect seems to not be downloading my phonebook every time. For instance, I try to call my mom by saying "Call Mom" and it asks me if I want to call towing assistance.

I've tried unpairing and repairing, but nothing seems to help.

Anyone have similar problems? Solutions?

I have the 730n in my wifes town and country and I can tell you that I had to so that voice recognition tutorial with my s5 to get the commands to work.

Just my 02 cents

If you haven't already, I would try updating Uconnect.

S5 uconnect issue

I have similar problems. I dial someone and it shows blue tooth connected but I don't hear anyone I hit speaker button and then I do on phone speaker. if I voice dial it hangs up after first ring
how do you update uconnect? my iphone 5s works perfectly my problem is only when I connect my Samsung s5
please help

I have the same issue with my Galaxy S5. I have found that powering down the phone and then back up will resolve it but it is a real pain. I updated Uconnect a few months back to 50.*** so I think that its up to date.... pretty annoying though for sure. Had zero issues previously with my Blackberry and the wife's Galaxy S3.

So I did some quick looking online and it turns out this is an issue with a lot of vehicles not just the Chrysler products. The only possible band-aid I could find was this:

Clear Bluetooth Cache and Data
From a Home screen, tap Apps.
Find the Settings icon and tap on it.
Scroll to Applications section and tap Application Manager.
Swipe left or right to display contents of All tab.
Scroll to and tap Bluetooth.
Tap Force Stop button.
Tap Clear Cache.
Tap Clear Data, and then OK.
Reboot your Galaxy S5.

After doing this procedure, pair your phone with your car or other BT devices and see if they can establish a good connection.

Now, to help you locking Bluetooth connection between your devices, download and install the Bluetooth Auto Connect application from the Play Store. Don't worry it's free and it's effective.


I will post back after a few days with results...

I tried all of the above still same problem. My main problem is outgoing calls with my s5. Any incoming calls are picked up via the Bluetooth but 95% or more of outgoing calls show on my android Bluetooth connected but do not ring or talk through the uconnect. I have to hit speaker or Bluetooth button to communicate. This really sux.

Same here... Worked for about 2 days then crapped out again. Samsung is supposed to be working on a fix but no eta that I could find...

There is an issue with the new Bluetooth protocol used my the S5 and the Bluetooth module in the older radios. I will see if I can find the article again.

Yes , yes and yes :bawl:

The issue is that the phone and radio both think they are connected but just don't actually talk to each other consistently. Based on a quick Google search then new LG G3 is having somewhat similar issues.
Zero issues with my S5 and Uconnect
Right. The issue only occurs with the older Uconnect radios. The 13+ don't seem to be affected.

I took my 2012 ram in Friday 9/5/14 to dealer. they showed that I needed a software update for my uconnect, problem is it is not yet available for download at the dealership.

Did they tell you which update you were on now? Maybe I need to do the same...

no but I will look when I get to my car today after work. all I know they plug some thing in to the computer port under the steering wheel then bring it inside to read it on pc. it tells them all my recalls, firmware , etc... it showed new update needed problem is they could not get it yet
