Does anyone know of anywhere that can actually tune a 2013 Ram for a supercharger? I have been talking with Alex at Arrington performance and he says that they can not properly tune the 2013 and newer trucks. I have a Diablo tuner already and it made a little bit of difference in performance, but I really want a super charger. If anyone has information please let me know! [email protected]

Looks like Edelbrocks kits will work...someone here has one. I'm waiting on Arrington too because I'll need a tune for more mods than just a blower on a stock truck which is all the Edelbrock covers....no custom tuning from them.

What "tuner" does Edelbrock provide?

All I would be going with extra would be headers which while a tune would be good for a bit more, I doubt it would yield a huge gain.

********. If you drive stupid then you break transmissions. If you drive them right the trans will be just fine for quite a while. Nothing lasts forever but the blanket statement that you're absolutely going to break transmissions is incorrect.
The new 8 speeds will be better yet.

Agreed, driving properly can easily make a transmission last. Too many people drive like they stole it and do the things that are known causes of failures, like WOT downshifts through 4th gear.

I'm very interested to see how the 8-speed holds up to power once tuning is sorted out.

Ok, agreed, drive it like a granny after you dropped 6k and it will last, or drive it like a normal person would with a supercharger and blow it up like MOST everyone else that's installed one(even with built transmissions). So yes, if you drive like a blue haired widow woman it will most likely last longer , just like if you don't ever drive it and park it in the garage it will last longer. Same same.

Get ready to go through transmissions like crazy my friend

Has anyone swapped the auto for a TR-6060 or the older T-56 six speed? Has worked well in Vipers, SRT10 RAMS, Challenger, Corvettes, Mustangs...

Then again one could still just purchase a used 2004 - 2006 SRT10 RAM...

Yes, lots of people have blown these transmissions, and you can keep doing so by driving 'like a normal person with a supercharger' or you can listen to the people that have had higher hp boosted engines that have both kept one transmission going for long periods, and none of us treated our rides like a porcelain doll. If you have a broken right hand and go to the doctor telling him that everything you touch hurts he'd probably tell you to use the left hand to touch things since your right hand is still broken. Yes, you have to change hands and not be "like a normal person", but you get to touch things again, with a conscious change in habits.

My last truck was a high compression head/cam w/ 175 shot of nitrous, this one's a 650rwhp D1SC w/ W/M and nitrous... stock trans on the first one for 2 years, and this one's had the same L&M transmission for 1.5 years. I downshift manually from 5th to 3rd every time before I pass; firstly it's more fun to be an active driver, secondly it doesn't blow through 4th gear without enough line pressure causing the clutches to slip. In the '07 it was disabling the O/D for passing which dropped it to 3rd before I'd step on it.

A few people have done a T-56 swap and a few others have done the 6L80 but it's not a simple swap to do by any means. I'm still waiting for a stand alone NAG1 controller, then it's game on with a GCSRT8 transfercase and Viking trans.

I drove the hell out of mine in those SoCal canyons...and not a 1/4 mile at a time either. I'm talking anywhere from 2-3 up to 20+ minute runs from barely moving up to 100+ mph time after time all while manually downshifting into the turns then WOT and let it up shift on its own. I guarantee you that's harder than one quick trip down a drag strip. I did that every weekend for over a year....there were times if go through a 3 gallon tank of **** in a few hours worth of drive time and it didn't spray until 4psi.

2 years is not very long buddy, that's about how long mine lasted after I started racing just about every weekend. I guess that's decent when considering boost tho. But looking at past experience of many of ppl on 5 different forums and going through 3 transmissions my self without boost on basically the same transmission in my 3rd gen I only came here to give advice from all the ******** and headaches tons and tons of ppl have been through when trying to boost these trucks with the lack of tuning for these transmissions. Can you down shift manually out of of and into 3rd to help prolong your transmission, yes, but will you most likely go through a transmission WAY faster under boost and run into the problems that many have before you, most likely. Good luck with whatever decision you go with, just don't believe some ppl when the tell you all is well and fine and your transmission will be no problem as long as you stroke it just right . If I had the 8 speed I would already be procharged myself, but unfortunately I do not

If I wanted to go fast in a truck with the 545RFE or the 6 speed, the first thing I'd do, long before any type of forced induction or nitrous, is gears.

I've recently gotten 4.10s put in my truck, with the 545RFE, and I am convinced that was the ratio that transmission was meant to have, before the EPA and the Bean Counters stepped in and ruined things with the 3.92 and that worse than worthless 3 55. In first gear, as tall as it is, at 2000 rpm the truck is going 15 mph. My first gear is now 81% of what first gear in the 8 speed is. Not too shabby. At 65 mph with the 545/4.10, I'm spinning the engine 1800 rpm. Perfect. I used to HATE that 545 until the 4.10s. It's still no 8 Speed, but it's not bad...

If I really wanted to go fast with a 545RFE truck, 4.56s is what I do first. 4.10s are a good compromise between performance and economy, bit I'll bet that 4.56 would romp. Matt at Moe's did 4.56s and I'm waiting to hear all about it.

Any transmission is breakable. I have a co worker who busted an Allison behind a DuraMax. But it stands to reason, that theoretically at least, if you reduce the load on that 545 by gearing down, rather than powering up, the 545 would last longer.

And yes, I also believe the 8 speeds will hold up better to it than the 6 speeds

Ive have talked to a few racing trans builders and they say having more moving parts and gears will lead to more failure and expense so we will a have to see...

Agree'd and when someone finally puts some real power to the 8 speed transmissions we'll all be able see what the first weak link will be.

Tell that to the Hellcat...

I have a feeling those two eight speed transmissions, the one in the hemi trucks and the one in the Hellcats will offer some interchangeability. If not the entire transmission, then at least some components.

Any idea where I can find detailed info on one of those swaps?
