Should I buy a Power Wagon with high miles?

Is there a reason you are not mentioning the most expensive and unique features of a PW? A PW has selectable front and rear lockers, disconnecting swaybar, winch, raised suspension, and slightly bigger tires. It also comes standard with 4.10 gears, which are available as an option on a regular...

    Which tire?

I ran two sets of the BFG AT's on the my last truck and really like them. The BFG AT's and MT's are the only tires in which I bought the same style back to back. Every other tire on my trucks have been replaced with a different brand or style because I wasn't that impressed with them. With...

    Tires for my Power Wagon

If you are running stock rims that is pretty common. Aftermarket wheels with less backspacing can solve that issue. Just don't go too far as then they will start rubbing the back bottom edge of the front fenders. Look up CJC Off-road as they have lots of information and videos of the right...

Should I buy a Power Wagon with high miles?

Just to put it in perspective, even a "base" Power Wagon is typically well optioned. These are base MSRP's off of Ram's website (all 4x4 crewcabs with 6-4 box): Tradesman = $51,800 Big Horn = $56,340 Laramie = $64,050 Power Wagon = $68,470 I believe the SLT was an equivalent model to the...

    Limp Mode after jump

The battery may still be low and not charged up. The battery gauge is showing the alternator output, and not really the battery voltage. I would let it charge up and see if the warnings go away.

Should I buy a Power Wagon with high miles?

Agree with this statement. I added airbags to mine. Even though it's not needed for sag/squat on some trailers, it definitely feels more solid and stable going down the road.

    greasin that hitch

Same here! There should be no more than just a tiny bit of vibration going on there. Not like the hitch is sliding back and forth a couple inches or something.

Should I buy a Power Wagon with high miles?

You can easily go up to the those numbers. There are safety factors built into the those ratings already. A manufacturer is not going to give an official rating of 1,510 lbs. payload if you can only "safely" go to something like 1,300 lbs. From my experience a PW handles loads better than a...

    greasin that hitch

The trouble with rust is that is good metal that is oxidizing and flaking away. Also not like it rusts just enough to get stuck and then just stops. The rust will continue eating away the good metal. It's not going to happen overnight, but after several years I would start getting concerned...

Should I buy a Power Wagon with high miles?

I know it's a Power Wagon but really no specific issues versus any other Ram 2500 truck. Guess there are a few more components you could have issues with like the lockers not engaging...but that's nothing that disables the truck or anything. While I own a PW and love it, if you don't have any...

Can a Gen3 Trailer Hitch Fit Gen 4 Ram?

If you are buying a new hitch, just get one for your specific model year of truck. The only reason I would even think about getting a gen 3 version is if you were buying used. Just as a note, Curt lists different part numbers for a gen 3 vs. gen 4 truck.

    greasin that hitch

Neither the original post or my post is talking about the hitch ball at all. We are talking about the square steel piece that slides into the truck hitch and is held on with a pin. I do agree with the hitch ball and always apply grease to it. Drives me crazy seeing people who do not, and...

    greasin that hitch

I've never greased or put anything on the hitch shank that goes into the truck hitch. I do remove it when not being used. Had my last truck for 16 years with the same hitch setup and it had just light surface rust...and I live in the rust belt. Would just periodically clean it up a little and...

    Transfer case

There have already been replies to this. But as mentioned an issue with the chain should only be obvious when in 4wd. All the power goes through the transfer case, but when in 2wd the chain is not doing anything. The only thing the chain does is transfer power to the front driveshaft, so in...

    bumpy ride 2500 powerwagon

In general a Power Wagon rides better than a standard 2500, however 1500's ride a lot better than a 2500. As already mentioned, what tires (size and load rating) do you have and what pressure do they have in them. Wouldn't be surprised if you had E rated tires pumped up to 80 psi on it. This...
