How bad did I screw up?

I used the wrong oil, a thinner oil, many years ago in a 74 260Z. My father and others said don’t worry about it. The engine spun a crank bearing 2000 miles later. The engine needed a full rebuild, and of course my father said coincidence. Sure, at 62000 miles? For 38 years now I’ve regretted...

Lets see what you are towing.

New trailer as of last week, our second trailer after buying our first two seasons ago. I wish I’d listened to people who said “buy used for your first because it may be too small or otherwise not fit your needs”. Well bingo, it was small and we wanted more room and an outdoor kitchen. This our...

    Load leveling air bag suggestions

I use that compressor and it’s great. Only takes seconds to air up the bags, but the gauge is junk. It reads way high. I use an 8 dollar Home Depot mechanical gauge with pressure relief valve to dial in exactly what I want. I run fairly low pressures of 12 or 15 pounds in the Timber Grove air...

    key fobs and swimming

I am a triathlete and when swimming in open water I use this. It has a fold-over waterproof compartment. You could also Ziplock it inside that compartment for double protection. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0182EFFMS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

To Shell or not to shell, that is the question!

Same. I like the look of a truck, and I’m just not a fan of the aesthetics of a shell on a truck. Especially the angled ones that get tall in the back. It’s an old man truck look to me. I had one on a used Nissan I had back in the 90s. It was handy at times, but killed visibility. My Ram...

Payload - Hitch Weight - Trailer Size Confusion

I don’t believe that to be true. I’ve spent enough time on forums like this, as well as walking around campgrounds and seeing what people have, to think a lot of people, if not most, strive to diligently be both safe and legal. There are always a few people who do not. A few huge travel...

From Jeep Gal to Truck - Towing a TT Across the US

Welcome! As for locking covers, I love my Undercover Elite LX. I also tow a trailer, and this one piece cover ensures everything stays dry. When not towing, I often have sporting gear like my road bike in the back. Safe and secure. It’s color matched to my white truck and looks great. The lock...

What did you do with your 4th Gen this week?

Today I had Discount Tire replace the stock Goodyear SR-A tires with BFG T/A K02s. I also installed the Helwig rear anti-sway bar. Then I towed our new trailer home from the storage lot, 15 miles of I5 and I405. The truck towed the 6000 lb trailer like butter. Tracked beautifully with no...

What did you do with your 4th Gen this week?

Picked up our new travel trailer! Crossroads Sunset Trail 253RB 30’ overall so 5’ longer overall than our first trailer. And about 1600 lbs heavier due to that plus a slide, recliners, king bed, and outdoor kitchen. We’re really looking forward to taking this out. It’s just my wife and I and...

    Top bed covers

My experience with trifold covers is that they leak. That’s not good in the Seattle area. That’s why on my last truck and my current Ram I have an Undercover one piece hard cover. No leaks. My camping gear etc is always dry.

    What determines Capacity

What is your point? That too many people get trucks for reasons that you consider invalid? As the meme goes, you are not my supervisor. You had your whole “hobby truck” thread to grind your axe against truck posers. No need to rehash it here. And those are crumple zones, not a sign of being...

    What determines Capacity

Good for you to make $2100 for a day of hard physical labor. My city truck (my term for a truck that is mostly used in the city and highways, neither immaculate nor beat to ****) takes me to my office job. There I make money with keyboard and mouse, rather than an axe. One approach is not...

    What determines Capacity

You’re forgetting that FCA will say those numbers are for how they built the truck, not how you modified it. “OEM rating” (I’ll stop using the word legal) will go out the window, and now yes you’re paying expert witnesses to debate whether what your doing was stupid or reasonable. Edit: you...

    New member, needing opinions

On my truck I did what you did the first time - bought one adapter and spliced for the reverse wire. I got the 60” as well. Bigger is better! I also got the right side slightly too low on the first install and so I noticed driving my wife’s Audi A3 once behind her driving the truck, it looked...

    What determines Capacity

I agree with you. The door sticker is one thing, the tow guide is another. There are disclaimers galore about it’s your responsibility to know how your vehicle is equipped to tow safely. That seems like common sense to me.
