Hey! I'm BACK, with some fresh 2005 Ram 1500 4.7L issues for your amusement! Missed y'all! Did you miss me? 159k miles on it. After I replaced the ECM the truck ran great til now even with P0456. I know, I know, "change the VLD thing already!" Has it really been two anti-problematic...- bugnutz

2005 1500 4.7L cranks, start, sputters and dies.
UPDATE: P0456 had nothing to do with the crank/sputter/die mode. The fuel pump had gone out! I was just fortunate that I made it home that day. About 2 weeks later the code came back. I had already replaced the gas cap, so replaced the purge solenoid. About 2 weeks later the code is back...- bugnutz

No CEL at the moment, but it did have P0456, which I cleared, which made the condition worse. Prior to the code presenting, the exhaust smelled rich to me, and it seemed to be all of a sudden getting crap for gas mileage on that last little highway jaunt. A moment of stunned silence. omg. Thank you, though. It was seriously just hanging loose in there. Do you happen to know what that yellow connector under the steering wheel is for? That crumbled when I tried to unplug it. The plastic was just very brittle. I didn't mess with it today but...- bugnutz

Great. I just replaced the battery on my 05 1500 and it was purring like a kitten. Solved a lot of problems. No hunting, no surging, idle was at 1100 steady. Delco braided ground straps are less than $10 on amazon. I hope Delco isn't a bad word on this forum lol. My other great love is a Chevy lol.- bugnutz

So sorry I didn't see your question. Yes I have my wheel well liner off. It goes on the shield under the passenger compartment and to a bolt on the manifold. It was not as difficult to reach as the crankshaft position sensor, but I would not have known that strap was broken if I had not been...- bugnutz

I found that the same ground strap fractured on mine and replaced it. I found it when I was replacing the crankshaft position sensor. It did affect my cranks. I took it back off to clean the connection better and checked just for grins and got no crank while it was off.- bugnutz

Vacuum line? 2005 4.7L 1500
Does nobody know what they connect to? It's raining so I won't be able to crawl around under the truck today. I cannot find any unoccupied connections under the hood, though. I think if I have to replace the whole thing, it is 3/8" tubing the same as windshield washer tubing.- bugnutz
