I have an issue with an engine tick/knock on startup in my 6.4 (appears to be a lifter issue) People on here are saying that Red Line oil will eliminate the problem. Has anyone had experience with this? there are postings saying that Royal Purple 0w40 has fixed the issue but it hasn't for me...
Great choice...i went from the 5.7 to the 6.4 as well. If you had to stick with the 5.7 you would of had to install a set of air bags because of the squat. Lots of power in the 5.7 but the suspension is just not there. Youll have no issues with the 6.4 2500. Enjoy!!
I had a lifter issue with my 16 2500 6.4 on cold starts. The lifter would just "clatter"" for about 30-40 seconds then slowly die out. Read in the forums to change the oil to royal purple 0w40... and sure enough the "clatter" was gone. Also up graded to a K an N oil Filter. Royal Purple from now on!
Parts are still not available for the fix. Not sure how or why they send out a recall when the parts are not available for the fix. With that being said I just broke down and went and got the recall done for the transmission solenoid pack. Truck seems to run more smooth.
I've got the same issue. They're saying it's the lifters , but by the time they get it from the parking lot to shop the tick is gone. Only last about 20-30 seconds. They need the "tick" to last longer so they have time to get the heads taken off to identify which lifter is causing the problem...
I have 1300 miles on my 2016 6.4 Laramie black out package. So far I had quick response issue that was easily fixed at the dealership by hooking up the truck to their computer system and doing what they called a "flash" to the trucks software. This winter i had a lifter issue. On cold mornings...
Just wondering what people are running in their 2500 6.4 Hemi. Anyone notice or getting better fuel mileage or better engine performance with a higher octane fuel??
