Is it safe to manually shift 545rfe?

TOW/Haul locks out 5ft gear holding 3rd until vehicle speed really stabilizes and then shift in 4th. and OD/OFF locks out both 4th and 5ft gears. So yeah in 3rd gear at 55-60 mph the hemi will turn around 2500 rpms.

Is it safe to manually shift 545rfe?

TOW/HAUL will cancel 5ft gear only and will modify shift pattern holding 2nd gear longer than normal then shift in 3rd then converter lockup will occur at around 30 mph depending on how hard the acceleration is and when vehicle speed stabilizes it will shift in 4th. And as soon as you press the...

Is it safe to manually shift 545rfe?

I had an '03 1500 and only had OD/OFF on the button and shift pattern was the same but it locked out both OD 4th and 5ft gears.

Is it safe to manually shift 545rfe?

I had an '03 1500 and without the tow/Haul feature and when I hit the button it would cancel both 4th and 5ft gear with no difference whatsoever in shift pattern or holding 2nd gear longer than usual. Now with my '08 2500, I now have the tow/haul mode and what it does, is cancel 5ft gear so it...

    Which coolant

I have an '08 2500 with the 5.7 that I bought in 2021 with 110k km (70k miles) and as soon as I had the chance, beside oil change, did complete coolant flush and refilled it with a 70/30 Prestone universal coolant and distillled water. And 40k km later, (25k miles), no issues whatsoever. Did...

1st Travel Trailer for my Ram 2500

Exactly what I was going to say! I have an '08 2500 with the 5.7 hemi and the 5-45RFE tranny and when towing my close to 8,000 lbs 5ft wheel rv, I tried using tow/haul mode wich will cancel 5ft gear but 4th gear still remains an overdrive gear. And even on flat highway sections it will take...

Pennzoil Ultra Platinium on sale at Canadian Tire

I've got an '08 2500 5.7 that I bought used back in 2021 and it calls for 5w20 wich I've used the first few months I got the truck but when I started towing my 7,500 lbs 5ft wheel camper, I switched to 5w30. My question is; Should I stick with 5w30 or go back to 5w20 for light use during winter...

    Coolant mixture

Always keep in mind if you only drain by the rad's drain valve that there will always be about roughly a gallon or 2 left in the block. So usually I refill with straight coolant and end up 9 times out of 10 with a 70/30 mixture or a -45 reading. So by adding distilled water in the cooling...

    Hemi Engine Going Away?

Maybe the hemi will stick around for the Classic Ram and some 2500s a year or two but will no longer be an option for the new Ram body style. Just saying...

Does anyone else but me think there are way too many electronics in today's vehicles?

That is exactly why I am keeping my '08 2500 for as long as it will run. I have none of this electronic mumbo jumbo. Only the basic necessities like A/C, cruise control, AM-FM CD radio with auxilary port and that's all I need. The truck's body is still in great shape, still low mileage and...

Drivetrain 'Shudder' when backing up and turning. Rear Suspension, Differential, Transmission or what ?

My '08 2500 does it also forward pulling off from a stop after a long drive (couple of hours of highway driving) while turning. Just feels like something underneath would be binding or something either U-joints or my 3.73 rear diff and same thing when backing up in my driveway while turning...

Sucks to be poor - Rant

That's exactly what I did. I bought my '08 2500 two years ago very clean inside and out, body fully intact, rust treated every year since day one with 70k miles for 14k$. So far still loving the truck very much.
