There are several pretty good oil filter comparisons on YouTube. One of the more recent ones compares 10 filters from ranging from cheapest to most expensive. They cover constuction, material, filtration particle size, and price. The Wix was rated fairly well in the comparison.
My 2011 had that issue, no idle or performance problems. I replaced the cap and cleared the codes using my OBDLink, when the problem kept coming back I replaced the purge valve. Problem resolved.
That's what mine did when it was throwing the evap/gas cap code. Once I cleared the code with my OBD2 MX it would work fine until the next time it threw a code. I replaced the evap solenoid and no more problem.
I've only performed the function once to program two extra keys and it went without any problems. I don't even remember the procedure now. You might try clearing things out by disconnecting the battery for about 20 minutes. Then reconnect and try again.
